Synchrotron Radiation for Quantum Technology

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials and interfaces underpin quantum technologies, with synchrotron and FEL methods key to understanding and optimizing them. Advances span superconducting and semiconducting qubits, 2D materials, and topological systems, where strain, defects, and interfaces govern performance.

Effect of Intramolecular Hydrogen Bond Formation on the Abraham Model Solute Descriptors for Oxybenzone

open access: yesLiquids
Solute descriptors derived from experimental solubility data for oxybenzone dissolved in 21 different organic solvents indicate that the hydrogen atom on the hydroxyl functional group forms an intramolecular hydrogen bond with the lone electron pair on ...

Bis(acetato-κO)bis(pyridine-2-aldoxime-κ2N,N′)nickel(II)

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2012
In the mononuclear title compound, [Ni(CH3COO)2(C6H6N2O)2], the NiII atom is coordinated by two pyridine-2-aldoxime (PaoH) ligands and two acetate groups, with cis coordination for the pairs of identical ligands.

Interpreting Attoclock Measurements of Tunnelling Times

open access: yes, 2015
Resolving in time the dynamics of light absorption by atoms and molecules, and the electronic rearrangement this induces, is among the most challenging goals of attosecond spectroscopy.

Photoactivation of NV Centers in Diamond via Continuous Wave Laser Illumination of Shallow As‐Implanted Nitrogen

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates an alternative method of creating charge‐stable negatively charged nitrogen vacancy (NV−) centers close to the diamond surface without high‐temperature annealing. By illuminating nitrogen‐implanted regions with a continuous‐wave 405 nm laser, NV− centers are induced, exhibiting electron spin coherence properties suitable for ...

(E)-2-(4-Nitrobenzylideneamino)benzamide

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2009
The title compound, C14H11N3O3, adopts an E conformation, with a dihedral angle of 41.8 (1) ° between the mean planes of the two benzene rings. One of the amino H atoms forms an intramolecular hydrogen bond with the amide N atom, while

Cu‐Based MOF/TiO2 Composite Nanomaterials for Photocatalytic Hydrogen Generation and the Role of Copper

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
HKUST‐1/TiO2 composite materials show a very high photocatalytic hydrogen evolution rate which increases as a function of the irradiation time until reaching a plateau and even surpasses the performance of the 1%Pt/TiO2 material after three photocatalytic cycles.

2-Phenyl-2-(pyridin-2-yl)hexahydropyrimidine

open access: yesActa Crystallographica Section E, 2010
The title compound, C15H17N3, was prepared by reaction of benzoylpyridine and hexahydropyrimidine. The 1,3-diazinane ring adopts a chair conformation with one N—H group axial and the other equatorial.
