ChemInform Abstract: Organic Synthesis Using Hydrogen Atom Abstraction Reactions
ChemInform, 1994AbstractChemInform is a weekly Abstracting Service, delivering concise information at a glance that was extracted from about 100 leading journals. To access a ChemInform Abstract of an article which was published elsewhere, please select a “Full Text” option. The original article is trackable via the “References” option.

At collision energies above 1 eV an insertion mechanism is shown to dominate in the hydrogen exchange reaction. The cone of acceptance for reaction is found to be made up of an inner cone (Le., for more nearly collinear collisions) where exchange proceeds by abstraction and an outer spherical sector where the mechanism is by insertion.

Reaction of hydrogen atoms with ethane
Journal of the Chemical Society, Faraday Transactions 1: Physical Chemistry in Condensed Phases, 1974The reaction between hydrogen atoms and ethane has been studied in a flow-discharge system over the wide temperature range 503–753 K at pressures between 8 and 16 Torr. The major products are methane and ethane, reformed by methyl recombination. Minor products are propane and ethylene with traces of n-butane.The detailed mechanism has been established ...

Azide as a scavenger of hydrogen atoms
The Journal of Physical Chemistry, 1986AbstractThe rate constant k1 has been determined by time‐resolved ESR measurements to be very high, 1.85·1O‐9 M‐1s‐1, confirming that the azide ion is an efficient scavenger of H atoms.

Hydrogen atom abstraction from HOOOCl by chlorine atom and OH radical
Inorganica Chimica Acta, 2007Abstract Gas-phase reactions of HOOOCl with both Cl atom and OH radical are investigated using ab initio methods. The structures of all reactants, products, intermediates, and transition states have been optimized and characterized with the quadratic configuration interaction (QCISD) method.

Alkenes are important ingredients of realistic fuels and are also critical intermediates during the combustion of a series of other fuels including alkanes, cycloalkanes, and biofuels. To provide insights into the combustion behavior of alkenes, detailed quantum chemical studies for crucial reactions are desired. Hydrogen abstractions of alkenes play a

Abstract: Reaction of atomic hydrogen with chemisorbed species
Journal of Vacuum Science and Technology, 1976Thermal hydrogen atoms produced at the surface of a hot tungsten filament react extremely rapidly with a tungsten film covered with ethylene or with ethylene decomposition products. For adsorption of ethylene at room temperature, where extensive loss of hydrogen occurs, the primary product is methane.
