Synthesis of a terminal Ce(iv) oxo complex by photolysis of a Ce(iii) nitrate complex. [PDF]
Reaction of [Ce(NR2)3] (R = SiMe3) with LiNO3 in THF, in the presence of 2,2,2-cryptand, results in the formation of the Ce(iii) "ate" complex, [Li(2,2,2-cryptand)][Ce(κ2-O2NO)(NR2)3] (1) in 38% yield. Photolysis of 1 at 380 nm affords [Li(2,2,2-cryptand)

Active Hydrogen for Electrochemical Ammonia Synthesis
This review provides a comprehensive overview of the active hydrogen (H*) for electrochemical ammonia synthesis with particular attention given to the regulation of H* generation and consumption to suppress the competition of hydrogen evolution reaction and enhance the yield, selectivity, and Faradaic efficiency of ammonia.

Gas phase homolytic bond dissociation enthalpies of common laboratory solvents: A G4 theoretical study [PDF]
Gas phase standard state (298.15 K, 1 atm) calculations were conducted at the Gaussian-4 (G4) composite method level of theory to estimate the bond dissociation enthalpies (BDEs) of various common laboratory solvents.

Covalently‐Bonded Diaphite Nanoplatelet with Engineered Electronic Properties of Diamond
A novel approach to engineering the electronic properties of diamond is reported on the diaphite nanoplatelet consisting of (11¯${{\bar{1}}}$1) planes of diamond nanoplatelet covalently bonded with graphite (0001) planes. The strong sp3/sp2‐hybridized interfacial covalent bonding induces the electron transfer from diamond to graphite, resulting in a ...

2H‐Au Nanosheet‐Templated Growth of PdFe for Electrocatalytic Methanol Oxidation
2H‐to‐face‐centered cubic (fcc) phase transformation of 2H‐Au happens when PdFe alloy epitaxially grows on 2H‐Au nanosheets (NSs), forming 2H/fcc Au@PdFe NSs, and the 2H/fcc phase ratio in 2H/fcc Au@PdFe NSs can be tuned correspondingly by changing the Pd/Fe atomic ratio.

Scaling laws for diamond chemical-vapor deposition. I. Diamond surface chemistry [PDF]
A simplified model of the gas-surface chemistry occurring during chemical-vapor deposition of diamond thin films is presented. The model results in simple scaling relations, useful for process scale-up and optimization, for growth rate and defect density

Evaluating the Atmospheric Loss of H2 by NO3 Radicals: A Theoretical Study
Molecular hydrogen (H2) is now considered among the most prominent substitute for fossil fuels. The environmental impacts of a hydrogen economy have received more attention in the last years, but still, the knowledge is relatively poor. In this work, the

Hydrogenation of single-walled carbon nanotubes [PDF]
Towards the development of a useful mechanism for hydrogen storage, we have studied the hydrogenation of single-walled carbon nanotubes with atomic hydrogen using core-level photoelectron spectroscopy and x-ray absorption spectroscopy. We find that atomic hydrogen creates C-H bonds with the carbon atoms in the nanotube walls and such C-H bonds can be ...
