This study introduces an extracorporeal hemoperfusion system incorporating porous microbeads embedded with autocatalytic ceria nanoparticles (CeNPs) for targeted reactive oxygen species (ROS) scavenging in septic shock. The blood‐compatible hemoperfusion cartridge demonstrated significant improvements in survival, hemodynamic stability, and organ ...

Nano‐Patterned CuO Nanowire Nanogap Hydrogen Gas Sensor with Voids
Sub‐5‐ppb hydrogen (H2) detection and sub‐10‐s response and recovery times are achieved based on nano‐patterned polycrystalline CuO nanowires nanogap gas sensors with voids using electron‐beam lithography and unique annealing processes. Pre‐H2 annealing, void‐generating oxidation, and downscaled nanogap electrodes are key to improving the sensing ...

In this work, a magnetic core‐shell catalyst (HOF‐on‐Fe3O4/ZIF‐67) is successfully synthesized, consisting of a metal–organic framework (ZIF‐67) with magnetic Fe3O4 as the core and a porous hydrogen‐bonded organic framework (HOF) as the shell. The catalyst efficiently activated peroxymonosulfate, resulting in rapid and effective removal of water ...

Oxidative stress and protection against it in bacteria
Microorganisms are exposed to reactive oxygen species (ROS) that are formed in various ways, in particular, as a result of respiration or other intracellular processes, during metal-catalyzed Fenton reactions, as a result of the action of UV- and X ...

Hydrogen abstraction reactions in formic and thioformic acid isomers by hydrogen and deuterium atoms
Context. The isomerism of molecules in the interstellar medium and the mechanisms behind it are essential questions in the chemistry of organic molecules in space. In the particular case of simple formic and thioformic acids, the low temperatures found in molecular clouds indicate that cis-trans isomerization in the gas-phase must be impeded.

Probing the mechanism of electron capture and electron transfer dissociation using tags with variable electron affinity [PDF]
Electron capture dissociation (ECD) and electron transfer dissociation (ETD) of doubly protonated electron affinity (EA)-tuned peptides were studied to further illuminate the mechanism of these processes. The model peptide FQpSEEQQQTEDELQDK, containing a
