Primordial Star Formation under Far-ultraviolet radiation

open access: yes, 2000
Thermal and chemical evolution of primordial gas clouds irradiated with far-ultraviolet (FUV; < 13.6 eV) radiation is investigated. In clouds irradiated by intense FUV radiation, sufficient hydrogen molecules to be important for cooling are never formed.

Modeling Pressure-Ionization of Hydrogen in the Context of Astrophysics [PDF]

open access: yes, 1999
The recent development of techniques for laser-driven shock compression of hydrogen has opened the door to the experimental determination of its behavior under conditions characteristic of stellar and planetary interiors.

Peroxidasin enables melanoma immune escape by inhibiting natural killer cell cytotoxicity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Peroxidasin (PXDN) is secreted by melanoma cells and binds the NK cell receptor NKG2D, thereby suppressing NK cell activation and cytotoxicity. PXDN depletion restores NKG2D signaling and enables effective NK cell–mediated melanoma killing. These findings identify PXDN as a previously unrecognized immune evasion factor and a potential target to improve

Hydrogen Production Using Electrodeposited Ni and Ni/Co on Carbon Paper as Cathode Catalyst in Microbial Electrolysis Cells

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2018
Microbial electrolysis cells (MECs) utilize microorganisms to decompose organic matter in wastewater and produce hydrogen at the cathode. Thus, a low-cost and highly active cathode material is of great important in such system.

All-sky signals from recombination to reionization with the SKA

open access: yes, 2015
Cosmic evolution in the hydrogen content of the Universe through recombination and up to the end of reionization is expected to be revealed as subtle spectral features in the uniform extragalactic cosmic radio background.

Production of atomic hydrogen by cosmic rays in dark clouds [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
The presence of small amounts of atomic hydrogen, detected as absorption dips in the 21 cm line spectrum, is a well-known characteristic of dark clouds.

Dammarenediol II enhances etoposide‐induced apoptosis by targeting O‐GlcNAc transferase and Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling in liver cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Etoposide induces DNA damage, activating p53‐dependent apoptosis via caspase‐3/7, which cleaves PARP1. Dammarenediol II enhances this apoptotic pathway by suppressing O‐GlcNAc transferase activity, further decreasing O‐GlcNAcylation. The reduction in O‐GlcNAc levels boosts p53‐driven apoptosis and influences the Akt/GSK3β/mTOR signaling pathway ...

Facile Synthesis of Well-Dispersed Ni2P on N-Doped Nanomesh Carbon Matrix as a High-Efficiency Electrocatalyst for Alkaline Hydrogen Evolution Reaction

open access: yesNanomaterials, 2019
The development of non-noble metal hydrogen evolution catalysts that can replace Pt is crucial for efficient hydrogen production. Herein, we develop a type of well-dispersed Ni2P on N-doped nanomesh carbon (NC) electrocatalyst by a facile pyrolysis ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

Study of the influence of phosphoric acid in steel anaerobic corrosion via the hydrogen evolution reaction. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Although it is well known that the phosphate species are quiet electrochemically inert when considering their calculated redox potential, few studies since the end of 80’s reported electrochemical phenomenon observed in the reduction domain which were ...
