The hydrogen evolution reaction on NiPx alloys
International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, 2000Abstract The hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) was studied on NiP x electrodes containing 15–27 at% P prepared by electrodeposition. The amount of P in the alloy varied with deposition potential. The activity of the electrodes was dependent on the P concentration, and the formation of a passive film.

With development of renewable energy sources electrolytic production of hydrogen becomes an alternative way of hydrogen production for internal combustion engines and fuel cells. HER proceeds through the Volmer, Heyrovsky and Tafel reaction mechanism.
