Atomic Size Misfit for Electrocatalytic Small Molecule Activation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This review explores the application and mechanisms of atomic size misfit in catalysis for small molecule activation, focusing on how structural defects and electronic properties can effectively lower the energy barriers of chemical bonds in molecules like H2O, CO2, and N2.

Controlled Growth of α-Al2O3 Nanofilm on FeCrAl Alloy as an Effective Cr Barrier for Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) Cathode Air Pre-Heaters

open access: yesEnergies
Solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) systems often employ metallic cathode air pre-heaters (CAPHs), frequently made from alloys with high chromium (Cr) content, to recover thermal energy from exhaust gases and pre-heat incoming air and fuel.

Electrodeposition of platinum nanoparticles on reduced graphene oxide as an efficient catalyst for oxygen reduction reaction [PDF]

open access: yesHydrogen, Fuel Cell & Energy Storage, 2015
Reduced graphene oxide film was synthesized on a glassy carbon electrode by electro reduction of graphene oxide powders in aqueous solution. Then platinum nano particles were deposited on reduced graphene oxide film that was deposited on the glassy ...

Fuel cells and hydrogen economy

open access: yesChemical Industry and Chemical Engineering Quarterly, 2005
Fuel cells with applications ranging from power generation to transportation need hydrogen as fuel. Hydrogen is not a source of energy, and hydrogen is not a readily available fuel. Hydrogen is more like electricity - an intermediary form of energy or an energy carrier.

Rational Fine‐Tuning of MOF Pore Metrics: Enhanced SO2 Capture and Sensing with Optimal Multi‐Site Interactions

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A pore tuning strategy to amplify the multi‐site MOF‐SO2 interactions is proposed to achieve an enhanced trace SO2 capture and chemiresistive sensing in highly stable isostructural DMOFs by annelating benzene rings. This work provides a facile strategy to achieve tailor‐made stable MOF materials for specific multifunctional applications.

Performance of an Anode Supported Solid Oxide Fuel Cell with Indirect Internal Reforming [PDF]

open access: yes
The conversion of fuel into hydrogen-rich gas is necessary for fuel cells. This can be achieved either indirectly in fuel processing systems, in which the hydrocarbon feed is converted in an external catalytic steam reformer, or directly in the fuel cell.

Enhancing CoFe Catalysts with V2CTX MXene‐Derived Materials for Anion Exchange Membrane Electrolyzers

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
MXene dervied CoFe composites show increased initial Oxygen Evolution Reaction (OER) activity compared to the pure CoFe and MXene in an Anion Exchange Membrane device. Vanadium vacancies in the MXene plays a role in increased OER activity and hinders Fe leaching in the AEM device over using the pure V2C MXene as a support material for the CoFe ...
