Recent advances and challenges in solid sorbents for CO2 capture

open access: yesCarbon Capture Science & Technology
Carbon capture is still a crucial technology for lowering CO₂ emissions, especially since fossil fuels persist in supplying a considerable share of global energy needs.

Hydrolysis reaction of ball-milled Mg-metal chlorides composite for hydrogen generation for fuel cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this paper, the hydrolysis properties for hydrogen generation by Mg-metal chlorides composites in pure water are investigated. The composites were prepared by high energy ball milling.

Huge Variation in H2 Generation During Seawater Alteration of Ultramafic Rocks

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2023
Water‐rock reactions liberate bioavailable energy, a necessary condition for chemotrophic habitability and origins of life. The major minerals of ultramafic (UM) rocks: olivine (ol), orthopyroxene (opx), and clinopyroxene (cpx), are of particular ...

Transferrin receptor 1‐mediated iron uptake supports thermogenic activation in human cervical‐derived adipocytes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In this study, we found that human cervical‐derived adipocytes maintain intracellular iron level by regulating the expression of iron transport‐related proteins during adrenergic stimulation. Melanotransferrin is predicted to interact with transferrin receptor 1 based on in silico analysis.

Possibility of large-area carbon nanotube films formation through spray coating

open access: yesMicro and Nano Systems Letters
This study deals with the process of developing and optimizing the spray coating method for large-area deposition of carbon nanotubes. Carbon nanotubes have excellent electrical and thermal properties and strength, so they are used in various fields of ...

The planar cell polarity protein Vangl2 interacts with the PDZ‐domains of Scribble but not with a unique PDZ‐like domain in Inturned

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Structural and biochemical characterisations show that the planar cell polarity (PCP) protein Inturned harbours a unique PDZ‐like domain that does not bind canonical PDZ‐binding motifs (PBMs) like that of another PCP protein Vangl2. In contrast, the apical‐basal polarity protein Scribble contains four PDZ domains that bind Vangl2, but one PDZ domain ...

Production of an Mg/Mg2Ni lamellar composite for generating H2 and the recycling of the post-H2 generation residue to nickel powder [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
The magnesium hydrolyzing reaction was catalyzed in situ using a layered Mg2Ni compound, rapidly producing hydrogen in NaCl solution. The post-H2 generation residue(mixture of Mg(OH)2 and Mg2Ni catalyst) was recycled to recover pure Ni powder from ...

Tau acetylation at K331 has limited impact on tau pathology in vivo

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We mapped tau post‐translational modifications in humanized MAPT knock‐in mice and in amyloid‐bearing double knock‐in mice. Acetylation within the repeat domain, particularly around K331, showed modest increases under amyloid pathology. To test functional relevance, we generated MAPTK331Q knock‐in mice.
