Hydrogen isotope fractionation in methane plasma. [PDF]

open access: yesProc Natl Acad Sci U S A, 2017
Significance Large variations in light element isotope ratios (H, N, C) are routinely observed in meteorite organic matter. The origin of these so-called anomalies is not accounted for by the classical theory of isotope fractionation.

Peculiarities of isotopic temperatures obtained from p+A collisions at 1 GeV

open access: yes, 1999
Nuclear temperatures obtained from inclusive measurements of double isotopic yield ratios of fragments produced in 1 GeV p + A collisions amount to about 4 MeV nearly independent from the target mass.Comment: 4 pages, 4 figures, to be submitted to Eur ...

Enhanced Nitric Oxide Electroreduction to Ammonia via Modulating Spin‐Polarization of Fe Single‐Atom Catalysts

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A strategic spin‐polarization suppression in Fe single‐atom catalysts is proposed to enhance electrocatalytic reduction of NO to NH3. Employing a top‐down electrospinning strategy, self‐supported FeSAC with Fe‐N3S1 coordination structure and spin‐state transition is engineered from high‐spin to low‐spin.

Widespread abiotic methane in chromitites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Recurring discoveries of abiotic methane in gas seeps and springs in ophiolites and peridotite massifs worldwide raised the question of where, in which rocks, methane was generated.

Silver Ion‐Mediated [hk1]‐Oriented Sb2Se3 Crystal Growth for Efficient Photoelectrochemical Hydrogen Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Ag+‐mediated hydrothermal crystal engineering promotes preferential [hk1]‐oriented growth of Sb2Se3 via an ultrathin MoOx interlayer, improving crystallinity and suppressing non‐radiative recombination. The optimized Ag+ treatment photocathode delivers 24.7 mA cm−2 at 0 VRHE and improved stability, revealing an ion‐modulated route to high‐performance ...

C−H Functionalisation for Hydrogen Isotope Exchange [PDF]

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie International Edition, 2018
AbstractThe various applications of hydrogen isotopes (deuterium, D, and tritium, T) in the physical and life sciences demand a range of methods for their installation in an array of molecular architectures. In this Review, we describe recent advances in synthetic C−H functionalisation for hydrogen isotope exchange.

Coherent Control of Nitrogen Nuclear Spins via the VB−${\rm V}_B^-$‐Center in Hexagonal Boron Nitride

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates coherent control of 15N nuclear spins coupled to VB−${\text{V}}_{\text{B}}^{-}$ centers in isotope‐enriched hexagonal boron nitride. Selective addressing via spin‐state mixing enables Rabi driving, quantum gates, and coherence times exceeding 10 μs$\umu{\rm s}$.

Hydrogen isotopic characteristic of hydrocarbon gas pyrolyzed by herbaceous swamp peat in hydrous and anhydrous thermal simulation experiments

open access: yesJournal of Natural Gas Geoscience, 2018
In order to understand the influence of diagenetic water medium on hydrogen isotope of thermogenic coalbed gas, the hydrous and anhydrous pyrolytic simulation experiments have been carried out on herbaceous peat.

Multipurpose Transparent Nanocomposites for Gamma Spectroscopy, Pulse Shape Discrimination, Thermal Neutron Detection, Radiation Shielding, and High Refractive Index Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Materials exist that are useful for gamma scintillation, radiation shielding, neutron‐gamma pulse shape discrimination (PSD), thermal neutron detection, or high refractive index applications. While certain materials have exhibited optimal performance for each of these applications, none achieve multiple functions.
