Induction of Peroxisomal β‐Oxidation as a Critical Mechanism for Ethanol‐Induced Hepatic Triglyceride Accumulation

open access: yesFASEB BioAdvances
Excessive oxidation of ethanol has been well known to induce hepatic triglyceride accumulation, while the underlying pathogenic mechanisms are not fully demonstrated.

Development of Pillared Clays for Wet Hydrogen Peroxide Oxidation of Phenol and Its Application in the Posttreatment of Coffee Wastewater

open access: yesInternational Journal of Photoenergy, 2012
This paper focuses on the use of pillared clays as catalysts for the Fenton-like advanced oxidation, specifically wet hydrogen peroxide catalytic oxidation (WHPCO).

Three phosphatase families form a community: The phosphohydrolases that act upon inositol pyrophosphates

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Inositol pyrophosphates are energy‐rich signaling molecules that perform critical functions in cells. Three different families of phosphatases hydrolyze the β phosphate of the inositol pyrophosphate molecules: two have narrow specificities and one is promiscuous.

Synergistic Influence of Non-Thermal Plasma and Hydrogen Peroxide on Oxidative Desulfurization (ODS) of Model Fuel

open access: yesمجلة بغداد للعلوم
Desulfurization is the process of removing the organic sulfur component from fuel oils. In this work, model fuel containing the sulfur compounds benzothiophene and dibenzothiophene was oxidized using plasma technique and plasma technique assisted by 30%

Hydrogen Peroxide Production by Streptococcus pneumoniae Results in Alpha-hemolysis by Oxidation of Oxy-hemoglobin to Met-hemoglobin

open access: yesmSphere, 2020
Streptococcus pneumoniae and other streptococci produce a greenish halo on blood agar plates referred to as alpha-hemolysis. This phenotype is utilized by clinical microbiology laboratories to report culture findings of alpha-hemolytic streptococci ...

Tumour–host interactions in Drosophila: mechanisms in the tumour micro‐ and macroenvironment

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This review examines how tumour–host crosstalk takes place at multiple levels of biological organisation, from local cell competition and immune crosstalk to organism‐wide metabolic and physiological collapse. Here, we integrate findings from Drosophila melanogaster studies that reveal conserved mechanisms through which tumours hijack host systems to ...

CO2/carbonate-mediated electrochemical water oxidation to hydrogen peroxide

open access: yesNature Communications, 2022
Electrochemical H2O oxidation to H2O2 is challenged by the competitive O2 evolution reaction. Here, the authors report a CO2/carbonate mediation approach to steering the H2O oxidation pathway from O2 evolution to H2O2 generation.

A Comparison dataset on static test using two concentrations of hydrogen peroxide for prediction of acid mine drainage

open access: yesData in Brief, 2023
Acid mine drainage (AMD) is a serious problem in many coal and mineral mines. Over the past 50 years, many researchers have developed static tests that play an essential role in preventing AMD.

Establishing an assay to evaluate d‐amino acid oxidase enzyme kinetics and inhibition using WST‐8 redox dye

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study investigated a novel WST‐8‐based assay for evaluating d‐Amino acid oxidase (DAO) inhibitors. We confirmed its effectiveness using known inhibitors and found that uremic toxins possess relatively weak inhibitory activity compared to existing drugs.
