Structural biology of ferritin nanocages

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ferritin is a conserved iron‐storage protein that sequesters iron as a ferric mineral core within a nanocage, protecting cells from oxidative damage and maintaining iron homeostasis. This review discusses ferritin biology, structure, and function, and highlights recent cryo‐EM studies revealing mechanisms of ferritinophagy, cellular iron uptake, and ...

Modification strategies of magnesium-based materials originating from other materials for hydrogen storage: A review

open access: yesNext Materials
Hydrogen is widely used as an energy carrier because of its wide source and environmental friendliness. However, the problem of low storage and transportation density still needs to be solved.

Effects of hydrogen on metals [PDF]

open access: yes, 1969
Several rules to guide choice of materials, and methods of welding, electroplating, and heat treatment will provide a method for minimizing failures in storage tanks and related hardware.

A synthetic benzoxazine dimer derivative targets c‐Myc to inhibit colorectal cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Benzoxazine dimer derivatives bind to the bHLH‐LZ region of c‐Myc, disrupting c‐Myc/MAX complexes, which are evaluated from SAR analysis. This increases ubiquitination and reduces cellular c‐Myc. Impairing DNA repair mechanisms is shown through proteomic analysis.

Cell surface interactome analysis identifies TSPAN4 as a negative regulator of PD‐L1 in melanoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Using cell surface proximity biotinylation, we identified tetraspanin TSPAN4 within the PD‐L1 interactome of melanoma cells. TSPAN4 negatively regulates PD‐L1 expression and lateral mobility by limiting its interaction with CMTM6 and promoting PD‐L1 degradation.

A Review on Advanced Manufacturing for Hydrogen Storage Applications

open access: yesEnergies, 2021
Hydrogen is a notoriously difficult substance to store yet has endless energy applications. Thus, the study of long-term hydrogen storage, and high-pressure bulk hydrogen storage have been the subject of much research in the last several years. To create

Ab initio study of beryllium-decorated fullerenes for hydrogen storage

open access: yes, 2010
We have found that a beryllium (Be) atom on nanostructured materials with H2 molecules generates a Kubas-like dihydrogen complex [H. Lee et al. arXiv:1002.2247v1 (2010)].

Catalysis and evolution on cycling of nano-structured magnesium multilayer thin films [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
This paper explores the hydrogen cycling properties of Mg/Cr and Mg/V multilayer thin films and studies the effect of chromium and vanadium transition metal catalysts on the cycling properties of thick magnesium coatings.

Hydrogen-storage materials for mobile applications [PDF]

open access: yesNature, 2001
Mobility--the transport of people and goods - is a socioeconomic reality that will surely increase in the coming years. It should be safe, economic and reasonably clean. Little energy needs to be expended to overcome potential energy changes, but a great deal is lost through friction (for cars about 10 kWh per 100 km) and low-efficiency energy ...
