Dynamics of Large Hydrogenerators

1996
Based on experimental data, this paper shows that the mathematical models of large hydrogenerators, used to preview the dynamic behavior at the design phase or as a predictive maintenance tool at the operation phase, must include the effects of the stiffness and damping forces of the oil film in the guide bearings.

Thermographic evaluation of hydrogenerator losses

SPIE Proceedings, 2012
The calorimetric method has for a long time been applied for losses measurement and energy conversion efficiency determination in electrical machines. The number of temperature sensors necessary for its successful application in the field constitutes in one of the major drawbacks of the method.

Controlling variable load stand-alone hydrogenerators

31st Annual Conference of IEEE Industrial Electronics Society, 2005. IECON 2005., 2005
The paper aims to establish a common way in controlling the electric energy quality in micro hydro plants. The considered situation deals with the stand alone synchronous and induction generators. The research investigates a power control scheme that would allow avoiding the mechanical control of the turbine.

Non-Invasive Detection of Rotor Inter-Turn Short Circuit in Large Hydrogenerators by Using Stray Flux Measurement Combined With Convolutional Variational Autoencoder Analysis (CVAE)

IEEE transactions on industry applications
Salient Pole Synchronous Generators (SPSG) are known for their robustness and stability; However, internal faults like rotor interturn short circuits (ITSC) might still occur and lead to unscheduled machine shutdowns if not caught early.
