Possible climate change impacts on water resources availability in a large semi-arid catchment in Northeast Brazil. [PDF]
The semiarid region of Northeast Brazil is characterized by water scarcity, vulnerability of natural resources, and pronounced climatic variability. An integrated model has been developed to simulate this complex situation with an emphasis on a large ...

Flooding affects fluctuating asymmetry but not growth of a riparian orbweaving spider
In a mesocosm experiment we assessed the impact of flood on aquatic insect emergence and on spider development using geometric morphometric analysis of fluctuating asymmetry. We observed 45% higher emergence in flooded mesocosm throughout the season. Spiders did not grow bigger but exhibited ~15% lower fluctuating asymmetry than in controls.

Climate change, forest conservation and science: A case study of New Zealand, 1860s-1920 [PDF]
To most of its European settlers, New Zealand was a land blessed by Providence. A temperate climate and year-round rainfall, easy availability of land and myriad work opportunities attracted many to the new colony.

Potential impact of Stratospheric Aerosol Injection on horticultural crop suitability in Africa
Short Abstract Global warming will be devastating for horticultural crops in Africa; however, the injection of sulphur into the atmosphere has been proposed as stop‐gap solution that may help reduce the warming. This intervention may lead to an increase (~0.2) in Suitability Index Values (SIV) of mango and tomato over West and central Africa.

Map and Archival Evidence of the Historical Avulsion of the Brahmaputra River
Short Abstract One of the world's great rivers, the Brahmaputra, avulsed—changed course—significantly sometime between the dates of 1765 and 1830. These are the dates of surveys by James Rennell (grey) and Richard Wilcox (black), both under the direction of the East India Company; no other surveys between these dates can refine the estimate of the ...
