Choice experiments on land managers' participation in environmental programs: A systematic review and meta‐analysis of estimate validity

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract Discrete choice experiments are increasingly being used to estimate land managers' willingness to accept participation in incentive‐based environmental programs. This is a specific application of discrete choice experiments: the estimation of willingness to accept for a private good (program participation) where respondents have to make trade ...

Informing a hydrological model of the Ogooué with multi-mission remote sensing data

open access: yes, 2017
. Remote sensing provides a unique opportunity to inform and constrain a hydrological model and to increase its value as a decision-support tool. In this study, we applied a multi-mission approach to force, calibrate and validate a hydrological model of ...

Towards an alternative blueprint for a physically-based digitally simulated hydrologic response modelling system. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
A critique of the Freeze and Harlan blueprint for a distributed physically based hydrological model leads to the conclusion that it will be abandoned.

The Herfindahl neutral point: A firm‐level threshold for managing market concentration with evidence from US hog packing

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper derives a firm‐level threshold, the Herfindahl Neutral Point, from the standard concentration index used in merger review. At this threshold, a marginal expansion leaves the index unchanged. Firms below the threshold reduce concentration when they expand; firms above it increase concentration.

Multivariate and spatially calibrated hydrological model for assessing climate change impacts on hydrological processes in West Africa

open access: yes, 2020
Robust hydrological models are critical for the assessment of climate change impacts on hydrological processes. This study analysis the future evolution of the spatiotemporal dynamics of multiple hydrological processes (i.e.

Practical hydrological protection for tropical natural forests: the Malaysian experience. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Synergies between hydrological research and certification of natural forest management in the humid tropics give rise to water protection standards that are also partially applicable to forest plantations and agroforestry ...

The role of venture‐financed startups in innovation for US agriculture

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Agricultural Economics, EarlyView.
Abstract To evaluate the role played by startup companies in the innovation ecosystem of US agriculture, we compile a unique dataset of 6024 new entrants founded 1987–2019 that details their financing lifecycles, annual economic performance, and patenting activities.

Relationships among tissues, biofluids, and otolith selenium concentrations in wild female burbot (Lota lota)

open access: yesIntegrated Environmental Assessment and Management, EarlyView., 2023
Abstract In the Lake Koocanusa‐Kootenai River system (Montana, USA and British Columbia, Canada), selenium (Se) contamination has become an international concern and is suspected to contribute to the observed burbot (Lota lota) population collapse. Due to our limited ability to sample burbot in Lake Koocanusa for monitoring studies, we used a reference
