Hydrologic Simulation With a Distributed Hydrologic Model
2008 Fourth International Conference on Natural Computation, 2008Hydrologic processes are sensitive to the spatial distribution of hydrologic parameters in watersheds. A distributed hydrologic model which can simulate various components of a watershed hydrologic cycle such as surface water, channel water, soil water and groundwater as well their interactions is used to simulate various hydrologic processes in the ...

Continuous Hydrologic Modeling Study with the Hydrologic Modeling System
Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2004The development of model parametrization methodologies using geographic information systems is becoming increasingly important in hydrologic modeling applications, especially given the continued trend of comprehensive and readily available geospatial databases.

Hydrologic modeling methodology
2014 IEEE International Systems Conference Proceedings, 2014Complex hydrological models are employed to mimic real world behavior and, if integrated with other hydrological complex models from different domains, may lead to a new powerful hydrological model that will provide answers to ever more sophisticated queries.

Validation of the Hydrological Processes in a Hydrological Model
Journal of Hydrologic Engineering, 2006Hydrological models are often required to model watersheds where the conditions change over time. Calibration and validation of these models is a difficult process that requires validation of each of the major hydrological processes within the model. This paper presents the calibration, validation, and sensitivity analysis of the WATFLOOD hydrological ...

Artificial neuron models for hydrological modeling
2007 International Joint Conference on Neural Networks, 2007Artificial neural networks (ANNs) have been successfully employed for hydrological modeling in the last two decades or so. Most ANN hydrologic models use the McCulloch and Pitts' artificial neuron (MPAN) as the building block of the ANN models. This paper presents the results of a study employing an artificial neuron called Generalized Neuron (GN ...

Virtual hydrology observatory: an immersive visualization of hydrology modeling
SPIE Proceedings, 2009The Virtual Hydrology Observatory will provide students with the ability to observe the integrated hydrology simulation with an instructional interface by using a desktop based or immersive virtual reality setup. It is the goal of the virtual hydrology observatory application to facilitate the introduction of field experience and observational skills

Parallelisation of a distributed hydrologic model
International Journal of Computer Applications in Technology, 2005In the solution of streamflow problems, fully distributed hydrologic models (DHMs), which are based directly on governing equations, offer distinct advantages over conceptual rainfall-runoff models, which are derived from empirical observations. However, the primary problem associated with DHMs is that they consume more computational resources than ...

Hydrologic Modeling of a Complex Wetland
Journal of Irrigation and Drainage Engineering, 1997A coupled model was used to simulate the hydrology of a 22 km2 agricultural marsh characterized by a very dense channel network composed of 1,800 storage basins closely connected with 500 km of ditches. The model couples the field-scale drainage model SIDRA with the hydraulic model MAGE.

The SAWAH Riceland Hydrology Model
Water Resources Research, 1995The paper presents a robust Darcy‐based one‐dimensional soil water balance model (SAWAH) for simulating riceland hydrology. Experimental data from an upland rice toposequence showing highly variable groundwater and volumetric soil water contentsθare used to calibrate the model and to validate it by a modified cross‐validation method.

Calibration of hydrological models on hydrologically unusual events
Advances in Water Resources, 2012The length of the observation period used for model calibration has a great influence on the identification of the model parameters. In this contribution it is shown that a relatively small number of so called unusual time periods are sufficient to specify the model parameters with the same certainty as using the whole observation period.
