Predicting the flow in the floodplains with evolving land occupations during extreme flood events (FlowRes ANR project)

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
Flood hazards (flow depth and velocity) must be accurately assessed in high-risk areas during extreme flood events. However, the prediction of the very high flows is not an easy task due to the lack of field data and to the strong link between flow ...

Modelling the Spatio‐Temporal Effects of Water Level Control in an Agricultural Collector Ditch Network

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, Volume 74, Issue 4, Page 1717-1729, October 2025.
ABSTRACT The study focused on modelling open channel flow in an agricultural ditch network. The objectives were (1) to set up a computational tool to explore the hydraulic impacts of water level control in a collector ditch network and (2) to test the effects of damming height and ditch flow resistance on the water level and its relation to field ...

Evaluating the French Flash Flood Warning System Using Hydrological and Impact Data in Southeastern France

open access: yesJournal of Flood Risk Management, Volume 18, Issue 2, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Due to climate change and rapid urbanisation, flash floods are becoming increasingly threatening, making real‐time flash flood monitoring and early warning systems a crucial adaptation measure. In France, the Vigicrues Flash system, operational since 2017, uses a simplified rainfall‐runoff model to issue short‐range flood warnings for small‐to‐

Das Land‐Atmosphäre‐System der Erde: Die „Erdung“ von Wetter‐ und Klimaprozessen

open access: yesPhysik in unserer Zeit, Volume 56, Issue 2, Page 80-88, March 2025.

Improving hydroacoustic methods for monitoring suspended‐sand flux and grain size in sediment‐laden rivers

open access: yesEarth Surface Processes and Landforms, Volume 50, Issue 1, January 2025.
Single‐ and dual‐frequency hydroacoustic methods were validated in an Alpine river with a bimodal silt–sand suspension using a large and precise dataset. Adapted methods provided good suspended‐sand concentration estimates but limited additional grain‐size information compared with that from the physical samples.

Berechnung der Waldverdunstung im Wasserhaushaltsmodell AKWA

open access: yesMeteorologische Zeitschrift, 1993
Die Waldverdunstung hat in ihrer räumlichen und zeitlichen Differenzierung auf den Wasserhaushalt von Einzugsgebieten der Mittelgebirge entscheidenden Einfluß.

Learning Regionalization Using Accurate Spatial Cost Gradients Within a Differentiable High‐Resolution Hydrological Model: Application to the French Mediterranean Region

open access: yesWater Resources Research, Volume 60, Issue 11, November 2024.
Abstract Estimating spatially distributed hydrological parameters in ungauged catchments poses a challenging regionalization problem and requires imposing spatial constraints given the sparsity of discharge data. A possible approach is to search for a transfer function that quantitatively relates physical descriptors to conceptual model parameters ...

Probabilistic flood forecasting on the Rhone River: evaluation with ensemble and analogue-based precipitation forecasts

open access: yesE3S Web of Conferences, 2016
Hydrological ensemble forecasting performances are analysed over 5 basins up to 2000 km2 in the French Upper Rhone region. Streamflow forecasts are issued at an hourly time step from lumped ARX rainfall-runoff models forced by different precipitation ...

Development of a conceptual groundwater flow model using a combined hydrogeological, hydrochemical and isotopic approach: A case study from southern Benin

open access: yesJournal of Hydrology: Regional Studies, 2018
Study region: The Turonian-Coniacian aquifer system in the North of the Coastal Sedimentary Basin, southern Benin, West Africa. Study focus: The Turonian-Coniacian aquifer is the major aquifer in southern Benin and is the main source of water supply for ...
