Parameter study of the axisymmetric hydromechanical deep drawing process
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2006In this paper, hydromechanical deep drawing and the effect of process parameters on the process have been studied using the finite element (FE) method. In order to verify the results of FE simulations, a study has also been carried out using experimental tooling.

Numerical prediction of limiting draw ratio and thickness variation in hydromechanical deep drawing
International Journal of Materials and Product Technology, 2004Hydromechanical deep drawing is a process for producing cup shaped parts with the assistance of a pressurised fluid. In the present work, a complete experimental set up has been designed and fabricated to conduct hydromechanical deep drawing on a 315 tonne hydraulic press.

Hydromechanical Deep Drawing Simulations: Model Development and Process Parameters Investigation
Advanced Materials Research, 2005Numerical simulation conducted by Finite Element Method is one of the most powerful tools for analyzing metal forming processes. Among them, Hydromechanical Deep Drawing (HDD) is, probably, the process which has gained the major interest in industries in the last few years. In this paper a numerical study of HDD of a can box is presented. The influence

Blank shape optimization in sheet metal Hydromechanical Deep Drawing (HDD)
International Journal of Material Forming, 2010In order to perform a successful sheet metal forming operation and to avoid shape deviations and tearing and wrinkling defects, process and material variables, such as tools geometry, blankholder force, friction, blank shape, sheet thickness and material properties, should be optimized.

Numerical model for the oil pressure distribution in the hydromechanical deep drawing process
Journal of Materials Processing Technology, 2000Abstract This paper presents an attempt to simulate the hydromechanical deep drawing process using the finite element method (FEM). The basic idea is to compute the counter pressure and the fluid film pressure by solving a finite difference approximation of Reynold’s equation. The concept is implemented as a contact algorithm in Exhale2D, an explicit

Experimental determination of the limiting bulge height in hydromechanical deep drawing
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2008Owing to fluid pressure, the unsupported blank between the punch and the drawing ring is bulged in the direction opposite to the punch movement. The blank is thus drawn over a fluid cushion and does not contact the drawing ring profile radius. The bulge is hence advantageous for ensuring class A surface quality of the workpiece.

Theoretical and experimental analysis of the axisymmetric hydromechanical deep drawing process
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part B: Journal of Engineering Manufacture, 2006In this paper the hydromechanical deep drawing process was studied and the tensile instability in this process, and related critical fluid pressure, was discussed. In the theoretical approach, the formulation for the bulging and drawing stage of the process was obtained and the successful working zone was achieved.

A Study on DOE Methods for Hydromechanical Deep Drawing Process Parameters
Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2012Formability of sheet metals can be increased by Hydromechanical Deep Drawing (HDD) process. Formability of the deep drawn cups is generally assessed by Limiting Drawing Ratio (LDR) which is the ratio of the blank diameter to punch diameter. In order to increase LDR by HDD, process parameters of the HDD should be arranged properly.
