Opacification of a hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens with exacerbation of Behçet's uveitis

Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, 2002
Behçet's disease is 1 of the most common causes of uveitis in the Eastern world. Its common ocular complications are uveitis, cataract, and obliteration of retinal vessels. Phacoemulsification with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in patients with Behçet's disease is known to be a safe procedure.

Preliminary study of hydrophilic hydrogel intraocular lens implants in cats

American Intra-Ocular Implant Society Journal, 1984
Soft hydrophilic intraocular lenses (IOLs) made of an aminopolyamide (Duragel) and a hydroxyethylmethylmethacrylate (HEMA) hydrogel polymer were implanted in cats and followed for six weeks. During surgery, a 45-second purposeful contact between the lens surface and the corneal endothelium was made.

Transscleral Fixation of a Single-Piece Hydrophilic Foldable Acrylic Intraocular Lens

Canadian Journal of Ophthalmology, 2007
To evaluate the results of transscleral fixation of foldable hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lenses (IOLs).Twenty eyes of 16 patients, aphakic after phacoemulsification (PE) surgery and with at least 6 months follow-up, were included in the study. All eyes were implanted with single-piece hydrophilic foldable acrylic lenses by transscleral fixation ...

[Opacification of a hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens].

Journal francais d'ophtalmologie, 2007
To report pathological and histochemical analysis of an explanted opacified hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens.and method: A hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lens--Orion IFP3D6--was explanted 2 years after routine phacoemulsification because of its opacification associated with significant visual impairment (20/40).

Imaging characteristics of delayed surface calcification in hydrophilic intraocular lens models

International Ophthalmology, 2013
We report two cases of opacified explanted intraocular lenses (IOL).The first lens was explanted from a cataract patient, then treated in vitro with trypsin/ethylene-diamine-tetra-acetic acid. The second hydrophilic acrylic IOL was explanted from a patient who had undergone sulphur hexafluoride (SF6) gas endotamponade surgery to repair a retinal ...
