Hydrophobicity--hydrophilicity of staphylococci
Journal of Medical Microbiology, 1987The hydrophobicity-hydrophilicity of various strains of Staphylococcus has been studied by a technique involving partitioning of the cells between aqueous and hydrocarbon phases. S. aureus was typically hydrophobic, and to a greater degree in stationary- than in exponential-phase cultures.

Synthesis of a Hydrophilic Naphthalimidedioxime
The Journal of Organic Chemistry, 2013Imidedioximes are formed in hydroxylamine-treated polyacrylonitrile adsorbents used in the extraction of uranium from seawater. Although known to be a good uranophile, the glutarimidedioxime model compound 1 is rapidly hydrolyzed under acidic conditions used to elute metals from the adsorbent.
