Fabrication Routes for Ionic Conducting Fiber Strain Sensors

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 21, 4 November 2026.
Ionic conducting fiber strain sensors (ICFSs) offer compliant, textile‐integrable sensing. Thus far, the commercialization of ICFSs has been constrained by fiber fabrication routes. This review provides a fabrication‐centric analysis of ICFSs correlating processing strategies with material properties and scalability.

Functional Polymer‐Engineered Magnetic Nanoparticles as Dual‐Modal Theragnostic Probes for Early Alzheimer's Disease Detection and Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 11, November 2026.
The nanoparticle consists of a 3 nm iron oxide core functionalized with an amphiphilic polymer coating containing Aβ‐targeting DSA moieties and biocompatible PEG chains. This design supports measurable transport in a BBB‐related model and specific interaction with Aβ species, while providing MRI contrast enhancement for diagnosis and therapeutic ...

Upconversion Lateral Flow Test for A1 Beta‐Casein Protein in Milk and Infant Formulas

open access: yesAnalysis &Sensing, Volume 6, Issue 6, November 2026.
A1 and A2 β‐casein have similar structures but distinct health effects. We developed a rapid UCNP‐based lateral flow assay for sensitive A1 β‐casein detection. The assay provides quantitative detection from 0.001 to 10 ng/mL, with a 61 pg/mL detection limit and 10 min analysis time.

Nanofiber PVA‐Based Membranes Incorporating Functionalized Spanish Broom Derivatives for Sustainable Water Purification

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, Volume 9, Issue 6, November 2026.
This study investigates Spanish broom (Spartium junceum) as a renewable source for electrospun composite membranes in sustainable water purification. MCC and biochar were functionalized with eco‐friendly precursors and nanomaterials (i.e., HNT, β‐CDs) to develop hybrid PVA nanofiber composites.

Upcycling Cotton–Polyester Textile Waste Into High Quality Biochar and Activated Carbon for Energy Storage Applications

open access: yesEnergy Technology, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
Mixed cotton–polyester textile waste is transformed through pyrolysis and KOH activation into high‐surface‐area carbons for energy storage. The blend produces the most porous biochar, while cotton‐derived activated carbon reaches 2537 m2/g and 112 F/g. These results reveal how textile composition governs pore development and supercapacitor performance,

Intrinsic Antimicrobial Properties of a Novel Silorane‐Based Material for Orthopedic Applications

open access: yesJournal of Biomedical Materials Research Part A, Volume 114, Issue 11, November 2026.
ABSTRACT One of many drawbacks of PMMA bone cement used to secure orthopedic implants is that its surface is highly susceptible to bacterial attachment and biofilm formation. In an effort to find alternative materials, we focused on silorane‐based polymers previously developed for use in dental composites.

State‐Programmable Conductive and Reactivatable Bio‐Adhesive for High‐Fidelity Epidermal Biointerfaces

open access: yesSmall, Volume 22, Issue 61, 2 November 2026.
A printable, reactivatable conductive adhesive (RCA) transitions from a robust, non‐tacky solid film into a soft, conformal biointerface upon solvent activation. By adapting to complex skin microtopography and hair‐covered scalp, the state‐programmable adhesive achieves strong adhesion and low interfacial impedance, enabling high‐fidelity EEG and pulse
