Research on Crack Propagation and Stress Propagation in Coal‐Rock Combinations Under Different In Situ Stresses Subjected to Blasting Loads

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
A stress wave propagation model for coal‐rock combinations under in situ stress was established. Taking a coal mine in Huainan, China as the engineering background, isotropic and anisotropic numerical models were constructed. Field engineering practices were carried out to verify the reliability of the conclusions.

Study on Fluid Pressure in Tubing, Dynamic Stress in Reservoir, and Fracture Propagation Morphology During Variable‐Rate Hydraulic Fracturing

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
Variable‐rate hydraulic fracturing can induce unsteady flow in the tubing, thereby generating fluctuating fluid pressure near the bottom‐hole reservoir. Dynamic stress is generated in the reservoir under the action of fluctuating fluid pressure and propagates as stress waves.

Fracture Development Mechanism of Water‐Isolating Soil Layers During Downward Mining of Shallow‐Buried Coal Seam Groups

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
This study systematically investigates the fracture development mechanisms of water‐isolating soil layers under the coupled effects of repeated mining and groundwater seepage during the downward mining of shallow‐buried coal seams. The findings provide a theoretical basis for evaluating stratum stability and preventing roof water inrush.

Triple Porosity Model and Its Application for Coal Seam Gas Injection Displacement of CH4

open access: yesEnergy Science &Engineering, EarlyView.
(1)Compared with injecting CO2, injecting N2 has a shorter penetration time, but the CH4 flow rate takes longer to stabilize, meaning the displacement process lasts longer. (2)The flow rate of CH4 rapidly decreases and gradually approaches 0; the flow rates of N2 and CO2 are 0 before breakthrough, then increase rapidly and eventually stabilize.

Hydrostatic Drive for a Wind Turbine

open access: yes, 2013
One of the main issues with conventional wind turbines is their reliability and expensive maintenance. To address this issue, the Innovative Engineers student group and the Center for Compact Efficient Fluid Power at the University of Minnesota came ...

Trendelenburg positioning with or without norepinephrine infusion for haemodynamic support in anaesthetised hypovolemic horses

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Intraoperative haemorrhage during equine anaesthesia is a rare but potentially fatal complication requiring prompt haemodynamic support. Postural manoeuvres such as Trendelenburg (TL) positioning and vasopressor support augment venous return and improve cardiac output (CO), yet their efficacy in anaesthetised hypovolemic horses ...
