Kugel ball nature: hydrodynamics-mathematics-design

open access: yesApplications in Engineering Science, 2022
The Kugel fountain, where a sphere sits in a fitted socket fed by a thin film of pressurized water flowing between the sphere and the socket, was treated as a bearing without referring to any mathematical or practical evidence that can support this idea.

Experimental equipment for measuring physical properties of the annular hydrostatic thrust bearing

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2014
The hydraulic circuit, through which the mineral oil is brought, is an important part of hydrostatic bearings. The annular hydrostatic thrust bearing consists of two sliding plates divided by a layer of mineral oil.

Development of rotary table grinding machine for large diameter Si wafers (2nd report: Performance investigation of wheel spindle designed to govern infeed motion)

open access: yesNihon Kikai Gakkai ronbunshu, 2017
Si wafer diameter tends to be increased from 300 mm to 450 mm in order to increase semiconductor device productivity. To this end, the authors developed a rotary grinding machine with high stiffness, equipped with water hydrostatic bearings.

Numerical modelling of the flow in the annular multi-recess hydrostatic thrust bearing using CFD methods

open access: yesEPJ Web of Conferences, 2013
The current research of hydrostatic bearings and hydrostatic slide-ways is far from being over. The topic is constantly evolving, creating new geometries of the sliding bearings, developing new types of friction materials and lubricants.

Inertia and Couple-Stress Effects in a Curvilinear Thrust Hydrostatic Bearing

open access: yesInternational Journal of Applied Mechanics and Engineering, 2017
The flow of a couple-stress lubricant in a clearance of a curvilinear thrust hydrostatic bearing with impermeable walls is considered. The flow in the bearing clearance is considered with inertia forces.

Theoretical Study of Hydrostatic Thrust Bearings

open access: yesBulletin of JSME, 1958
The load capacity of hydrostatic bearings can be increased by making a pocket which keeps effective fluid pressure on the bearing surface, and their dynamic stability can be improved by arranging a suitable restrictor like a capillary or an orifice which corresponds to the bearing dimensions and the optimum clearance in the fluid supply-line.

Influences of Lubricant Viscosity Ratio on Static Characteristics of Hydrostatic Thrust Bearing

open access: yesMATEC Web of Conferences, 2017
This paper uses numerical simulation to study the influences of viscosity ratio on the static characteristics of hydrostatic thrust bearing compensated by various restrictors. The design parameters of open type hydrostatic bearing include: effective area,

Effects of Surface Roughness and Supply Inertia on Steady Performance of Hydrostatic Thrust Bearings Lubricated with Non-Newtonian Fluids

open access: yesJournal of Mechanical Engineering, 2021
The objective of present theoretical analysis is to study the combined effects of surface roughness and fluid inertia (including the inertia of the fluid in the supply region) on the steady performance of stepped circular hydrostatic thrust bearings ...

Bone Healing Around Implants in Normal and Medically Compromised Conditions: Osteoporosis and Diabetes

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
xx xx. ABSTRACT Osseointegration of orthopedic and dental implants is influenced by local and systemic factors, including their physicochemical surface properties and the patient's overall health status. Titanium and its alloys have been a longstanding standard for bone implants due to their innate biocompatibility and mechanical properties.
