Pressure Measurements for Translating Hydrostatic Thrust Bearings
International Journal of Fluid Power, 2005AbstractThe objective of this study is to take insitu measurement of the pressure profile that exists between a sliding thrust bearing and a stationary thrust surface. Using a two-dimensional model of the bearing and the classical one-dimensional Reynolds equation, the experimental results are explained and the minimum fluid film thickness and the tilt

Characteristics of a hydrostatic thrust bearing
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1962Summary The static and dynamic behaviour of a hydrostatic thrust bearing has been fully analysed starting from the Navier-Stokes equations for two-dimensional flow. An expression has been derived giving the force exerted by the oil in terms of the variables, amplitude of vibration, thickness of oil film and frequency.

An Experimental Analysis of Hydrostatic Thrust Bearing
Journal of the Association of Engineers, India, 2011Hydrostatic lubrication is a type of fluid lubrication where the bearing surfaces are kept separated by a film of fluid. The pressure which supports the load on the bearing is supplied to the film by an external source like pump, accummulator etc.

Film Recession in Hydrostatic Thrust Bearings
Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, 1973In general, hydrostatic thrust bearings are designed to operate with parallel bearing surfaces and it is assumed that the lubricant film completely fills the bearing clearance. In practice, bearings almost inevitably operate in a tilted condition and this modifies the behaviour of the bearing. In addition, when the surface approaching the bearing under

The thermohydrodynamic flow equations for hydrostatic thrust bearings
Meccanica, 1970This paper studies the flow in rotating hydrostatic thrust bearings lubricated with incompressible fluids under pressure. It considers, besides the effects of inertia on the lubricant, its increase in temperature in the film due to fluid friction (thermohydrodynamic flow).

The pressure distribution in a hydrostatic thrust bearing
International Journal of Mechanical Sciences, 1965Abstract An expression is obtained for the pressure distribution in a hydrostatic thrust bearing using an existing series expansion solution for radial flow between parallel planes. It is shown that the same result can be obtained by a simple uni-directional flow analysis. The present results are compared with those of earlier investigations in which
