Hydrotalcite-Catalyzed Alkylation of 2,4-Pentanedione
Synthetic Communications, 1995Abstract A synthetic anionic clay, hydrotalcite (Mg/Al = 2.8), calcined under dry air at 450 [ddot]C, has proved to be an efficient catalyst for the selective C-monoalkylation of 2,4-pentanedione with reactive alkylating reagents.

Comparison between the Cr(VI) adsorption by hydrotalcite and hydrotalcite-gibbsite compounds
Separation Science and Technology, 2015Cr(VI) adsorption from aqueous solutions on Mg-Al hydrotalcite and Mg-Al hydrotalcite-gibbsite with Al/(Al+Mg) ratios (R) of 0.3 and 0.6 (MgAlHTR = 0.3 and MgAlHTGR = 0.6) was investigated as a function of the pH and chromium concentration. The results showed that the maximum Cr(VI) adsorption by Mg-Al compounds do not depend on the value of R at pH 7.

Hydrotalcites in Organic Synthesis: Multicomponent Reactions
Current Organic Synthesis, 2018Background: The use of solid bases as heterogeneous catalysts allows the replacement of conventional bases in Organic Chemistry, being of outmost importance. Lamellar double hydroxides or hydrotalcites are materials having excellent basic properties and high surface areas.

Applied Catalysis A: General, 2008
Abstract Multicomponent one-pot synthesis of Hantzsch dihyropyridine (DHP) was achieved by the condensation of benzaldehyde, ethyl acetoacetate and ammonium acetate at room temperature using environmentally friendly as-synthesised medicinally acceptable hydrotalcites (HT) and hydrotalcite-like (HT-like) materials as solid base catalysts.

Cannizzaro reactions over calcined hydrotalcite
Applied Clay Science, 2019Abstract Several aldehydes undergo disproportionation into corresponding acids and alcohols (Cannizzaro reaction) over calcined hydrotalcite, magnesium aluminum layered double hydroxide (LDH), in water. The reactions are slow and ~10% conversions were achieved after stirring for 24 h at room temperature.

Dynamics of water in hydrotalcite
Physica B: Condensed Matter, 1997Abstract To understand the phenomena underpinning a hydrotalcite's applications, its structural and dynamic properties have been investigated between 308 and 483 K. The results reveal that the dominant motions are associated with lattice water which is confined in a cage.

Nitrate removal by calcined hydrotalcite-type compounds
Clays and Clay Minerals, 2008AbstractThe sorption of nitrate ions on calcined hydrotalcite-type compounds at 550°C (HT550), 650°C (HT650), and 850°C (HT850) from pure water solution at 25°C has been studied. The influence of the temperature was also investigated for the sample calcined at 850°C by studying the sorption process at 10 and 40°C.
