Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Biomass

2014
Biomass is one of the most abundant sources of renewable energy, and will be an important part of a more sustainable future energy system. In addition to direct combustion, there is growing attention on conversion of biomass into liquid en-ergy carriers.

Hydrothermal plume simulation for autonomous hydrothermal vent discovery

2012 Oceans - Yeosu, 2012
This paper presents a three dimension hydrothermal plume simulation model using Gaussian plume models to predict the mean plume concentration. The simulation model is to be used to evaluate the autonomous hydrothermal plume locating and mapping strategies.

Hydrothermal processes on Enceladus

Science, 2017
Planetary Geology Saturn's moon Enceladus has a subsurface ocean covered by a layer of ice. Some liquid escapes into space through cracks in the ice, which is the source of one of Saturn's rings. In October 2015, the Cassini spacecraft flew directly through the plume of escaping material and sampled its chemical composition. Waite et al. found that the

Organic matter in hydrothermal metal ores and hydrothermal fluids

Applied Geochemistry, 1990
Abstract Massive polymetallic sulfides are currently being deposited around active submarine hydrothermal vents associated with spreading centers. Chemoautolithotrophic bacteria are responsible for the high production of organic matter also associated with modern submarine hydrothermal activity.

The Hydrothermal Minerals

2020
Over 2200 chemical analyses of hydrothermal minerals collected at depth in different active geothermal systems were compiled and processed in this work. In agreement with the outcomes of previous studies, it turned out that hydrothermal quartz, calcite, adularia, albite, anorthite, and laumontite are virtually pure solid phases.
