Mineralization and hydrothermal alteration of the Tajroud vein system, south of Neyshabour

open access: yesJournal of Economic Geology, 2013
The Tajroud vein system is located 190 km southwest of Mashhad, and in the southern part of the Sabzevar zone. The vein host rocks consist of Eocene intermediate to silicic volcanic rocks.

The effect of hydrothermal alteration on the seismic structure of the upper oceanic crust: Evidence from Holes 504B and 1256D

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, 2011
It has long been argued but never demonstrated that alteration “fronts” should be recognizable features of the seismic structure of the oceanic crust. The abrupt transition from crust affected by low‐temperature hydrous alteration to crust affected by ...

Magmatic and hydrothermal behavior of uranium in syntectonic leucogranites: The uranium mineralization associated with the Hercynian Guérande granite (Armorican Massif, France) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Most of the hydrothermal uranium (U) deposits from the European Hercynian belt (EHB) are spatially associated with Carboniferous peraluminous leucogranites.

Heteroatom‐Engineering Promoted Co9S8 Bi‐functional Electrocatalyst for Hydrazine‐Assisted Hydrogen Production at Industrial Current Density

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Fe and P co‐doped Co9S8 nanocorals (Fe, P‐Co9S8) are successfully synthesized by a heteroatom engineering strategy, which exhibit outstanding bifunctional electrocatalytic performance for both the hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) and hydrazine oxidation reaction (HzOR).

Theory‐Guided Design of Non‐Precious Single‐Atom Catalyst for Electrocatalytic Chlorine Evolution

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
To overcome the reliance on noble metals for the chlorine evolution reaction (CER), we designed a non‐precious single‐atom catalyst (SAC), NiN3O–O. It achieves a low overpotential of 75 mV, 95.8% Cl2 selectivity, and outperforms commercial dimensionally stable anodes (DSAs).

Oceanic crust: Age of hydrothermal alteration

open access: yesGeophysical Research Letters, 1978
Times of vein mineral deposition in the ocean crust have been determined both by Rb‐Sr isochron ages of vein smectites and by comparison of 87Sr/86Sr ratios of vein calcites with the known variations of seawater 87Sr/86Sr ratio with time. Results from drill sites 105, 332B and 418A, Atlantic Ocean, which have basement formation ages of 155 m.y., 3.5 m ...

Nano‐ and Micro‐Sized Solid Materials Used as Antiviral Agents

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Due to the rise of viral infections in humans and possible viral outbreaks, the use of nano‐ or micro‐sized materials as antiviral agents is rapidly increasing. This review explores their antiviral properties against RNA and DNA viruses, either as a prevention or a treatment tool, by delving into their mechanisms of action and how to properly assess ...

Liquid Phase Transmission Electron Microscopy: A Window into the Early Stages of Complex Material Formation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Liquid‐phase transmission electron microscopy enables direct observation of nucleation and growth processes in solution. This review is dedicated to the remembrance of Helmut Cölfen and highlights recent studies on complex materials—oxides, biominerals, organic–inorganic crystals—which were central to his research activity. It summarizes key milestones,
