Multi‐Energy Integrated Photocatalysis for Antitumor Therapy

open access: yesExploration, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review summarizes recent advancements in piezo‐photocatalysts and photothermal‐photocatalysts for cancer therapy. It begins by outlining the principles of piezo‐photocatalysis and photothermal‐photocatalysis, followed by a discussion of various multi‐energy integrated photocatalysts designed for single‐, dual‐, triple‐, and tetra ...

Impact of hydrothermal activity on marine barium isotope composition: a case study from the Southwestern Indian Ocean

open access: yesFrontiers in Marine Science
The cycling of barium (Ba) is closely linked to marine biogeochemical processes. Barium and its isotopes are commonly used as tracers for marine productivity, seawater alkalinity, and ocean circulation.

Evidence From Microscopy and U–Pb Geochronology as a Clue to the Influence of the Cretaceous Magmatism in the Diagenesis of Pre‐Salt Carbonate Reservoirs in the Santos Basin (Brazil)

open access: yesGeological Journal, EarlyView.
Carbonates from Santos Basin revealed U–Pb ages correlated with basalt ages (A), suggesting that they were formed during magmatic events. These events placed hot CO2 in the reservoir, which, when mixed with carbonate‐rich cold water (B), led to thermal convection, enabling the formation of the U contained in the carbonates.

Neogene Hydrothermal Fe‐ and Mn‐Oxide Mineralization of Paleozoic Continental Rocks, Amerasia Basin, Arctic Ocean

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems
Rocks dredged from water depths of 1,605, 2,500, 3,300, and 3,400 m in the Arctic Ocean included Paleozoic continental rocks pervasively mineralized during the Neogene by hydrothermal Fe and Mn oxides.

Enhancing Efficiency in Double‐Pipe Heat Exchangers: A Detailed Review of NanoFluids and Their Impact on Thermal Performance

open access: yesHeat Transfer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study reviews recent advances in using nanofluids to enhance double‐pipe heat exchanger (DPHE) efficiency. The review examines several types of nanofluids, that is, water‐based graphene oxide and CuO–water nanofluids, assessing their effectiveness under different operating conditions, including inlet temperature and nanoparticle volume ...

Ocean circulation contributes to genetic connectivity of limpet populations at deep‐sea hydrothermal vents in a back‐arc basin

open access: yesEvolutionary Applications
For endemic benthos inhabiting hydrothermal vent fields, larval recruitment is critical for population maintenance and colonization via migration among separated sites. The vent‐endemic limpet, Lepetodrilus nux, is abundant at deep‐sea hydrothermal vents

Nanoengineered neutrophils integrated with magnetic nanoparticles for T2‐weighted magnetic resonance imaging‐guided enhanced magnetic hyperthermia therapy of pancreatic tumor

open access: yesInterdisciplinary Medicine, EarlyView.
An engineered neutrophil‐based targeted magnetic hyperthermia therapy was developed. Magnetic‐heat particles hitchhike on neutrophils that home to the tumor; under alternating magnetic fields the nano‐particles heat up to kill cancer cells and simultaneously trigger the cells to release reactive oxygen species for deeper clearance, doubling the punch ...

Significant impact of lithogenic dissolution from subantarctic volcanic islands on the regional marine silicon cycle

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography, EarlyView.
Abstract Silicic acid controls the production of diatoms, a predominant phytoplankton in the Southern Ocean. Diatoms are major contributors to the biological carbon pump, which is particularly active in the Southern Ocean as well as in areas naturally enriched in iron, such as around the Kerguelen Plateau.

Continuous determination of dissolved inorganic carbon fluxes from pumping suspension feeders

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography: Methods, EarlyView.
Abstract Suspension‐feeding organisms play a pivotal role in the cycling of carbon in the oceans. They filter large amounts of water, filter out organic matter, remineralize it, and release respiratory CO2 back into the water column. Measuring emissions of respiratory CO2 in situ from suspension feeders poses the challenge of detecting small changes in
