Three‐dimensional simulation of hydrothermal circulation at mid‐ocean ridges
Results of numerical simulations of three dimensional hydrothermal convection in a layered medium representative of mid‐ocean ridge environments are presented. Regional‐scale three dimensional flow patterns naturally arise from reasonable assumptions about permeability distributions and magnitude of base heating.

Sustaining Hydrothermal Circulation With Gravity Relevant to Ocean Worlds
AbstractSome ocean worlds may sustain active, seafloor hydrothermal systems, but the characteristics and controls on fluid‐heat transport in these systems are not well understood. We developed three‐dimensional numerical simulations, using a ridge‐flank hydrothermal system on Earth as a reference, to test the influence of ocean world gravity on fluid ...

This paper defines the maximum possible vertical extent of hydrothermal circulation in granitic crust, and thus the maximum depth within which geothermal reservoirs can be encountered. To evaluate prospective geothermal fields we constructed a geothermal

A Macroscale Hydrogeological Numerical Model of the Suio Hydrothermal System (Central Italy)
The complex behaviour of the Suio hydrothermal system (central Italy) and its potential exploitation as a renewable energy source are still unclear. To quantitatively evaluate the geothermal resource, the Suio hydrothermal system has been investigated ...

Distribution of gamma-ray elements in Cerro do Jarau impact structure and a proposal of geothermal modeling [PDF]
Large meteorite impacts release kinetic energy that induces rock deformation, high temperatures and fluid circulation during the cratering process.

Seismic tomography can be used to image the spatial variation of rock properties within complex geological media such as volcanoes. Solfatara is a volcano located within the Campi Flegrei, a still active caldera, so it is of major importance to ...

A Vent-Field-Scale Model of the East Pacific Rise 9°50'N Magma-Hydrothermal System [PDF]
This paper describes a two-limb single-pass modeling approach constrained by vent temperature, heat flow, vent geochemistry, active-source seismology, and seismically inferred circulation geometry to provide first-order constraints on crustal ...
