Effect of Additives on Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Polysaccharides

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Research, 2020
We investigated the effect of added K2CO3 (alkali) and HCOOH (acid) on the product yields and compositions from isothermal and fast hydrothermal liquefaction (HTL) of polysaccharides abundant in fo...

Hydrothermal Liquefaction of Biomass for Chemicals

2016
The production of liquid bioenergy carriers and chemicals from biomass can be realised by using hydrothermal conversion processes. Especially wet biomass is suitable for this kind of treatment as water is the reaction medium. A two-stage hydrothermal process was developed including first conversion of the biomass into liquid products and secondly ...

Hydrothermal liquefaction of biogenic residues and microalgae

2020
The aim of this work is the characterization of biogenic residues and their possible use as feedstock for hydrothermal liquefaction. In the course of this work ten different biogenic residues and two different microalgae strains were tested for their applicability in hydrothermal liquefaction.

Hydrothermal Liquefaction and Gasification of Nannochloropsis sp.

Energy & Fuels, 2010
We converted the marine microalga Nannochloropsis sp. into a crude bio-oil product and a gaseous product via hydrothermal processing from 200 to 500 °C and a batch holding time of 60 min. A moderate temperature of 350 °C led to the highest bio-oil yield of 43 wt %. We estimate the heating value of the bio-oil to be about 39 MJ kg−1, which is comparable

Hydrothermal Liquefaction and Pyrolysis for Biofuel Production

Biofuels are extracted from renewable resources, they biodegrade naturally, are harmless to stockpile and are convenient for transportation. In addition, greenhouse gas emissions from biofuels into the environment are lower as compared to conventional fuels.
