Modeling residue hydrotreating

Chemical Engineering Science, 2010
Abstract In this paper a kinetic model for the residue hydrotreating is presented. The model considers kinetics, adsorption and diffusion inside the hydrodemetallization catalyst pellets. The diffusion is described by the Stefan–Maxwell equations extended for starkly different sized molecules, due to molecular size of residue molecules large ...

Kinetic study on hydrotreating

Industrial & Engineering Chemistry Process Design and Development, 1982
The kinetics of hydrodesulfurization (HDS), hydrodenitrogenation (HDN), and hydrogenation of polynuclear aromatics (HPA) were studied simultaneously over presulfided catalysts. The experiments were carried out in a continuous-flow microreactor operated at elevated pressures (15 to 55 atm) and temperatures (230 to 375/degree/C).

Hydrotreating and Hydrocracking: Fundamentals

2007
Hydrotreaters are the most common process units in modern petroleum refineries. As shown in Table 1, the world’s hydrotreating capacity is nearly half as large as the world’s crude distillation capacity. In more than 700 refineries around the globe, there are more than 1300 hydrotreating units.

Hydrotreating of coal-derived middle distillate and evaluation of the hydrotreated oils.

Journal of The Japan Petroleum Institute, 1986
Hydrotreating of raw coal liquid and its mixtures with petroleum middle distillates has been studied in an attempt to clarify the relationship between the properties of product oils and operating conditions. The addition of petroleum distillates to coal liquid formed product oils of superior quality by hydrotreating as compared to the neat coal liquid.

Rhenium sulfide in hydrotreating

Applied Catalysis A: General, 2007
Abstract Literature data published mainly during the two last decades and dealing with the preparation, structure and catalytic activities in hydrotreating reactions with rhenium sulfide has been reviewed. These compounds have been particularly evaluated in model compounds reactions as thiophene hydrodesulfurization and quinoline hydrodenitrogenation.

Engineering of Hydrotreating Processes

1992
A general overview of hydrotreating and hydrocracking processes is given, considering chemistry, catalysts and technologies. The environmental qualities of the fuels produced are especially taken into consideration when comparing these processes.

Deactivation of Hydrotreating Catalysts

1992
Abstract Two Ni-Mo/Al 2 O 3 catalysts, in fresh, commercially used, and toluene extracted states, were characterized by surface area, porosimetry, carbon content, 13 C NMR, and sulfur and nitrogen removal activity for gas oil hydrotreating. Used catalyst A contained 12.6 wt% carbon while used B contained 3.5 wt% carbon.
