A rapid method to quantify sub-micrometer polystyrene particles in aqueous model systems by TOC analysis

open access: yesMicroplastics and Nanoplastics
For several laboratory experiments with microplastics, a simple and fast quantification method is advantageous. At the same time, the requirements are often lower compared to microplastic detection from environmental samples.

Exploring Dipolar Dynamics and Ionic Transport in Metal‐Organic Frameworks: Experimental and Theoretical Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
In this study, the interplay of dipolar dynamics and ionic charge transport in MOF compounds is investigated. Synthesizing the novel structure CFA‐25 with integrated freely rotating dipolar groups, local and macroscopic effects, including interactions with Cs cations are explored.

PH-metric method for determining the solubility and solubility products of slightly soluble hydroxides and acids

open access: yesRomanian Journal of Ecology & Environmental Chemistry, 2021
In this paper, original methods for determining such thermodynamic characteristics as solubility product (KS) or the activity product of slightly soluble hydroxides and acids are communicated.

Polymer Nanocomposites Using Zinc Aluminum and Magnesium Aluminum Oleate Layered Double Hydroxides: Effects of LDH Divalent Metals on Dispersion, Thermal, Mechanical and Fire Performance in Various Polymers [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Oleate-containing layered double hydroxides of zinc aluminum (ZnAl) and magnesium aluminum (MgAl) were used to prepare nanocomposites of polyethylene, poly(ethylene-co-butyl acrylate) and poly(methyl methacrylate).

Mobility of antimony, arsenic and lead at a former mine, Glendinning, Scotland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Elevated concentrations of antimony (Sb), arsenic (As) and lead (Pb) in upland organic-rich soils have resulted from past Sb mining activities at Glendinning, southern Scotland. Transfer of these elements into soil porewaters was linked to the production

Enhancing Optoelectronic Properties in Phthalocyanine‐Based SURMOFs: Synthesis of ABAB Linkers by Avoiding Statistical Condensation with Tailored Building Blocks

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A novel phthalocyanine (PC)‐based metal–organic framework (MOFs) is synthesized using ditopic PC linkers obtained through regioselective statistical condensation. The resulting MOF exhibits significant improvements in electronic absorption, thereby enhancing the material's performance in light harvesting and energy conversion.

Dodecylsulfate and dodecybenzenesulfonate intercalated hydrotalcites as adsorbent materials for the removal of BBR acid dye from aqueous solutions

open access: yesJournal of Saudi Chemical Society, 2016
Two modified layered double hydroxides (HT) have been synthesized by intercalating both sodium dodecylsulfate (SDS) and sodium dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS) surfactants into Mg-Al layered double hydroxides using the calcination–rehydratation method. The

Discovery Prospects for a Supernova Signature of Biogenic Origin

open access: yes, 2011
Approximately 2.8 Myr before the present our planet was subjected to the debris of a supernova explosion. The terrestrial proxy for this event was the discovery of live atoms of 60Fe in a deep-sea ferromanganese crust.

Bias‐Free Highly Efficient and Stable Dye‐Sensitized Photoelectrochemical Cells via Cascade Charge Transfer

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A buried‐junction DSPEC design is introduced that leverages cascade charge transfer to enhance efficiency, stability, and versatility. This approach facilitates effective charge transfer and minimizes recombination losses, leading to significant improvements.

Ideal Molecular Sieving with a Dense MOF for Helium Upgrading with Highly Diffusion Selective Mixed Matrix Membranes

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
The separation of Helium gas from natural gas is challenging but highly important. MIL‐116(Ga), a “non‐porous” metal–organic framework is used as a molecular sieve to separate He from CH4. Druse‐like MIL‐116(Ga) particles are integrated into polysulfone mixed matrix membranes.
