The structure of hydroxyethyl starch [PDF]

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, 1973
Summary It is suggested that the structure currently used to describe hydroxyethyl starch (a blood plasma volume expander) is a gross oversimplification. A model having a much more complex substitution‐pattern is proposed, and an accurate, rapid test has been devised for distinguishing between the two models.

Effects of anesthesia on fluid volume kinetics after infusion of colloid solution during blood donation [PDF]

open access: yesKorean Journal of Anesthesiology, 2010
BackgroundThe fluid kinetics of intravenously infused colloid during inhalation anesthesia and hemorrhage have not been investigated. We therefore assessed fluid space changes during infusion of hydroxyethyl starch solution after hemorrhage in conscious ...

Development of a novel metastable composite material [PDF]

open access: yes, 2006
The development of a new family of mouldable metastable composite materials has been demonstrated. Their special quality is derived from the ability to maintain the matrix as a supercooled liquid or gel whose solidification can be triggered mechanically,
