Purification and Properties of Polyvinyl Nitrate and Its Compatibility With Solid Oxidizers

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 51, Issue 8, Page 1224-1234, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Polyvinyl nitrate (PVN) is a nitrate‐ester energetic binder that can be produced directly from polyvinyl alcohol—a cheap commodity feedstock—thereby offering potential cost and supply‐chain advantages over binders based on nitrocellulose and other specialty polymers.

Controllable Energy Release of Boron@Tannic Acid@Ammonium Perchlorate Energetic Microunits Governed by Cu Single Atoms

open access: yesRare Metals, Volume 45, Issue 7, July 2026.
ABSTRACT Controllable energy release in solid propellants has always been a challenging technology, and extensive efforts have been devoted to the synthesis and application of catalysts to achieve its controllable release. In this study, tannic acid (TA) and its complexes (TA‐Cu) were introduced into boron@ammonium perchlorate (B@AP) composites using ...

Hydroxyl‐Terminated Polybutadiene‐Based Molding Powders as an Alternative Route for Manufacturing Pressed Polymer‐Bonded Explosives

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 51, Issue 6, Page 955-965, June 2026.
This study presents an alternative method to manufacture polymer‐bonded explosives by partially curing an HTPB‐based molding powder prior to compaction. The study shows that the length of partial cure time before compaction directly influenced the geometric fidelity, homogeneity, compressive strength, density, and internal microstructure.

Enhancing the propulsion characteristics of rockets by adding the energetic Nitro-hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (NHTPB) in the propellant compositions

open access: yesIOP Conference Series: Materials Science and Engineering, 2021
Abstract Replacing the inert binder by an energetic one could increase the specific impulse of the propellants and enhance the propulsion characteristics of rockets. In this study, Nitro-b hydroxyl-terminated polybutadiene (NHTPB) was prepared by a simple method. The prepared NHTPB in addition to HTPB binder were characterized.

Assessment of the Interaction between Ammonium Dinitramide and Isocyanurate Bonding Agents for Application on Technologies of Composite Solid Propellants

open access: yesPropellants, Explosives, Pyrotechnics, Volume 51, Issue 5, Page 724-732, May 2026.
This work investigates the interaction of two isocyanurate‐based bonding agents with ammonium dinitramide: triallyl isocyanurate and 1,3,5‐tris(2‐hydroxyethyl) isocyanurate, which contain alkene and hydroxyl functional groups in their side chains, respectively.

Toward 4R Electronics: Liquid‐Metal‐Enabled Thin Film, and Field‐Effect Transistors for Sustainability and E‐Waste Reduction

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, Volume 11, Issue 7, 6 April 2026.
The 4R principle—Resilience, Repairability, Recyclability, and Renewability—enables sustainable liquid‐metal transistors. LM materials provide stretchable, damage‐tolerant architectures, allow rapid circuit repair, permit full material recovery through dissolution, and support renewable fabrication cycles, forming a closed‐loop pathway toward ...
