Strobilation in a species of Bougainvillioidea (Cnidaria, Hydrozoa)

open access: yesScientia Marina, 2000
In november 1994 several specimens of an unknown hydroid were collected in a tank of the Genoa Aquarium (Italy). The polyps, characterised by filiform tentacles around a proboscis, displayed unusual asexual reproduction, leading to a linear chain of three elements (strobilation) joined by alternate oro-aboral polarity.

A Network Approach to White Band Disease Challenged Staghorn Coral Acropora cervicornis microRNAs and Their Targets

open access: yesEcology and Evolution, Volume 15, Issue 4, April 2025.
Our study looks at the association between microRNA expression and disease resistance in Caribbean staghorn corals infected with White Band Disease. We find three microRNAs differentially expressed due to disease resistance with putative targets involved in innate immunity.

Tree‐line system: A sea bottom cultivation technology to improve the biomass production of edible seaweed Chondracanthus chamissoi (Gigartinales, Rhodophyta)

open access: yesJournal of the World Aquaculture Society, Volume 56, Issue 2, April 2025.
Abstract Chondracanthus chamissoi is a red seaweed of socioeconomic importance due to its use for direct human consumption; therefore, its cultivation is key to optimizing the production of this species and avoiding the exploitation of natural beds. In this study, a new background bottom culture technology, that is, the tree‐line system, was evaluated.
