Marine benthic flora and fauna of Gourdon Bay and the Dampier Peninsula in the Kimberley region of North-Western Australia [PDF]
Surveys undertaken to characterise the marine benthic habitats along the Dampier Peninsula and further south at Gourdon Bay in the Kimberley region of Western Australia were augmented with epibenthic sled sampling of soft and hard bottom habitats.

Biological surveys reveal unexpectedly high faunal diversity at Nankai Trough methane seeps
Abstract Cold seeps are chemosynthesis‐based ecosystems powered by microbial primary production that support diverse and specialized faunal assemblages in the deep sea. Despite Nankai Trough in Japan being a geologically active margin hosting numerous seeps, much of the faunal diversity remains undocumented.

Orientiertes Wachstum beiMillepora dichotoma (Hydrozoa) [PDF]

ABSTRACT Aim This study characterises benthic habitats and associated biodiversity in three Japanese subduction trenches, and explores the effects of trench‐specific differences in large‐scale seismic events, disturbance and productivity regimes on habitat structure and assemblage composition.

Functional Characteristics of Nematocysts Found on the Scyphomedusa Cyanea Capillata [PDF]
Although prey capture by cnidarians is mediated through nematocysts, their influence on prey selection by cnidarians remains poorly documented. The difficulty in visualizing nematocyst–prey interactions remains the chief obstacle to understanding how the

Missing species among Mediterranean non-Siphonophoran Hydrozoa [PDF]
Hydrozoa of the Mediterranean Sea are well known and a recent monograph covers 457 species. Mediterranean non-Siphonophoran Hydrozoa comprises 398 species, an increasing number due to continuous updates, representing about 10 % of the 3,702 currently valid species reported in a recent world assessment of hydrozoan diversity.

ABSTRACT Copepods, dominant marine zooplankton, are hosts to microbial eukaryotic symbionts, but the copepod eukaryome remains largely unexplored. We used 18S rRNA gene primers with reduced metazoan amplification to identify microbial eukaryotes in a culture of Calanus finmarchicus (Copepoda).
