A Review of Hygroscopic Equilibrium Studies Applied to Rice

Transactions of the ASABE, 2010
Equilibrium moisture content (EMC)/equilibrium relative humidity (ERH) studies pertaining to rice and rice products were reviewed. Methods of determining rice and rice component EMC/ERH data varied, using procedures involving static and dynamic equilibration methods, as well as direct gravimetric methods and indirect ERH-measurement methods.

HYGROSCOPIC EQUILIBRIUM OF SUNFLOWERSEED, FLAXSEED, AND SOYBEANS

Canadian Journal of Research, 1944
Equilibrium moisture values for relative humidities of from 31 to 93% were obtained for sunflowerseed, flaxseed, and soybeans. The hygroscopicity of whole sunflowerseed per se is practically the same as that of flaxseed, that of dehulled sunflowerseed is somewhat lower.

Hygroscopic equilibrium of cottonseed

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1947
Summary and ConclusionAn investigation has been made of the hygroscopic equilibrium of cottonseed over a range of 31% to 93% relative humidity. From 31% to 71% relative humidity the moisture content of cottonseed increased linearly from 6.03% to 10.27%. From 71% to 93% relative humidity the moisture content increased rapidly from 10.27% to 22.19%. When

Note on the hygroscopic equilibrium of cottonseed and cottonseed products

Journal of the American Oil Chemists' Society, 1948
Summary and ConclusionsThe hygroscopic equilibrium of a sample of the Stoneville 2B variety of cottonseed and its derived products has been determined over the relative humidity range of 11 to 93%. In a previous publication (1) the hygroscopic equilibrium of a sample of the D and PL variety of cottonseed was determined over the range of 31 to 93 ...

Hygroscopic equilibrium of microencapsulated extract of passion fruit seed and its effect on the antioxidant capacity

Journal of Food Process Engineering, 2017
AbstractThe hygroscopic behavior of microcapsules of antioxidant extract of defatted passion fruit seed, produced using spray drying technique, was analyzed at 20 and 40 °C by the static method with saturated saline solutions. The isosteric heat of sorption of the microcapsules, concentration of phenolic compounds and piceatannol, and the antioxidant ...

Investigation of hygroscopic equilibrium and modeling sorption isotherms of the argan products: A comparative study of leaves, pulps, and fruits

Food and Bioproducts Processing, 2019
Abstract The aim behind this work is to demonstrate and validate a predictive experimental model of the thermophysical behaviors of the three argan products, leaves, pulps and fruits, using the experimental determination of sorption isotherms. They constitute an important information source to establish the stability of the products of argan and ...

Investigations of equilibrium moisture content with Kelvin modification and dimensional analysis method for composite hygroscopic material

Construction and Building Materials, 2017
Abstract This paper proposes a V-shaped cone model to modify the Kelvin equation and thus obtaining an accurate connection between the effective aperture of hygroscopic material and its governing factors. A dimensional equation of equilibrium moisture content is presented based on the modified Kelvin equation.

HYGROSCOPIC EQUILIBRIUM AND TEXTURE OF FREEZE-DRIED FOODS

1967
Abstract : Improved methodology for the objective evaluation of food texture was applied to the measurement of the textural parameters of special freeze-dried foods which were storage-equilibrated under different relative humidity conditions. The foods included pre-cooked freeze-dried beef, laminated freeze- dried products in the form of bite-size ...
