‘Using anuran community diversity and Pseudacris crucifer to predict landscape quality across a land use gradient'

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
As human‐modified landscape and climate changes proliferate, maintaining biodiversity and understanding the function and quality of available habitat is imperative. As anurans (frogs/toads) such as Pseudacris crucifer, can be an indicator species of habitat quality and ecosystem productivity, studying the anuran community in a mixed‐land use region ...

Opposite effects of climate and land‐use/cover change on Mediterranean herpetofauna: Insights from the southern Apennines

open access: yesAnimal Conservation, EarlyView.
Climate change (CC) and land‐use/cover change (LUCC) are threatening species worldwide, with amphibians and reptiles being particularly vulnerable. Host‐feeding preferences of Culex pipiens and its potential significance for flavivirus transmission in the Camargue, France

open access: yesMedical and Veterinary Entomology, EarlyView.
We identified Culex pipiens bloodmeals at the species level in natural, agricultural and peri‐urban habitats and calculated host preferences based on forage ratios. This analysis showed Passeriformes, and in particular Columba livia, Passer montanus and Turdus sp., to be the preferred Cx. pipiens hosts.
