A field study of the bird-voiced treefrog, Hyla avivoca, was conducted in Arkansas during the summer of 1991. A total of 75 separate sites in 23 counties was visited. Males with their distinctive whistle-like calls were listened for at night at each site.

Durante un viaje de colecta a Macuro (Península de Paria, Estado Sucre. Venezuela) obtuvimos una ranita de zarzal, cuyo estudio revelo una especie desconocida. Estos anfibios cantaban en un pajonal, y su llamada muy distinta, oriento la búsqueda, logrando la captura de tres ejemplares que fundamentan la presente descripción.

Color polymorphism is common in many species of marsupial frogs.  Extreme cases of pattern polymorphism are documented in four species. In Amphignathodon guentheri, Castrotheca aureomaculata, G. qriswoldi, and G. helenae juveniles are known to have only one color morph, where as two or more patterns exist in adults.
