Five New Wood Decay Fungi (Polyporales and Hymenochaetales) in Korea [PDF]

open access: yesMycobiology, 2016
The wood decay fungi are a diverse taxonomic group that plays a pivotal role in forest carbon cycling. Wood decay fungi use various enzymatic pathways to digest dead or living wood in order to obtain carbon and other nutrients and these enzymatic systems have been exploited for both industrial and medical applications. Over 600 wood decay fungi species

Phylloporia moricola sp. nov. (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) from China

Phytotaxa, 2021
Phylloporia moricola is described as a new species based on collections from Sichuan Province, China. All studied basidiocarps grow on trunks of Morus sp. This new species is supported by morphological features and phylogenetic analyses of DNA sequences inferred from a dataset of nuc 28S rDNA. P.

Cotylidia fibrae (Rickenellaceae, Hymenochaetales), a new species from China

Phytotaxa, 2021
Cotylidia fibrae sp. nov. is described and illustrated from north China. Morphologically, the new species is distinguished from other Cotylidia species by the combination of a light grayish yellow pileal margin and pileal and hymenophore coverings of distinct white fibres.

Phylogeny and diversity of Fomitiporella (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota)

Mycologia, 2017
Fomitiporella accommodates polypores producing annual to perennial basidiocarps with an indistinct subiculum (very thin to almost lacking), mostly a dimitic hyphal structure, lacking any kind of setae, with brownish, thick-walled basidiospores, and causing a white rot.

The phylogenetic position of poroid Hymenochaetaceae (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) from Patagonia, Argentina

open access: yesMycologia, 2015
Six poroid Hymenochaetaceae from Patagonia, Argentina, were studied phylogenetically with nuc rDNA internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and partial 28S rDNA sequences, together with morphological data. Two new genera and a new species are introduced as well as two new combinations proposed. Arambarria destruens gen. et sp. nov.

New Poroid Hymenochaetaceae (Basidiomycota, Hymenochaetales) from Chile

Mycological Progress, 2019
Fomitiporia chilensis and Phylloporia boldo are described as new poroid species in the Hymenochaetaceae based on morphological, cultural, ecological, and phylogenetic analyses. Fomitiporia chilensis pertains to the Fomitiporia punctata species complex, being related to its Neotropical taxa.

Xylodon subflaviporus sp. nov. (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) from East Asia

open access: yesMycoscience, 2018
Abstract Xylodon subflaviporus (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) is described as a new species collected from tropical and subtropical regions of East Asia. This new species is characterized by resupinate basidiocarps, a poroid hymenophore, pseudodimitic hyphal system, nodose-septate hyphae, four types of cystidia (capitate, acicular to cylindrical ...

Stable isotope analyses reveal previously unknown trophic mode diversity in the Hymenochaetales [PDF]

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Botany, 2018
Premise of the StudyThe Hymenochaetales are dominated by lignicolous saprotrophic fungi involved in wood decay. However, the group also includes bryophilous and terricolous taxa, but their modes of nutrition are not clear. Here, we investigate patterns of carbon and nitrogen utilization in numerous non‐lignicolous Hymenochaetales and provide a ...

Schizocorticium gen. nov. (Hymenochaetales, Basidiomycota) with three new species

Mycological Progress, 2021
The new genus Schizocorticium (Hymenochaetales) of corticioid fungi is presented with three new species: Schizocorticium magnosporum, Schizocorticium mediosporum, and Schizocorticium parvisporum. Most collections of these three species were made from Taiwan, and only two specimens were collected from Yunnan Province of China.

Phylogeny and taxonomy of the genus Phylloporia (Hymenochaetales)

Mycological Progress, 2002
Based on 28 taxa, including six species of Phylloporia, and respectively one representative of 17 genera of the Hymenochaetales, a phylogenetic analysis of a region of the large subunit of the nuclear encoded ribosomal DNA was performed. Molecular sequence data as well as morphological and anatomical features show the genus to be monophyletic.
