THE ROLE OF HYPERBARIC OXYGEN THERAPY IN FOURNIER’S GANGRENE: LITERATURE REVIEW
Introduction: Fournier’s Gangrene is a severe necrotising infection that can be fatal if not recognised and treated immediately. Treatment consists of a combination of conventional therapy with a multidisciplinary approach (early diagnosis, surgical ...

Does FLASH deplete Oxygen? Experimental Evaluation for Photons, Protons and Carbon Ions [PDF]
Purpose: To investigate experimentally, if FLASH irradiation depletes oxygen within water for different radiation types such as photons, protons and carbon ions. Methods: This study presents measurements of the oxygen consumption in sealed, 3D printed water phantoms during irradiation with X-rays, protons and carbon ions at varying dose rates up to ...

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy in Chronic Inflammatory Conditions of the Pouch.
BACKGROUND Pouchitis can be a chronic complication of ileal pouch-anal anastomosis. We aimed to determine the efficacy and safety of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for chronic antibiotic-refractory pouchitis (CARP) and other inflammatory conditions of ...

Stochastic multi-scale models of competition within heterogeneous cellular populations: simulation methods and mean-field analysis [PDF]
We propose a modelling framework to analyse the stochastic behaviour of heterogeneous, multi-scale cellular populations. We illustrate our methodology with a particular example in which we study a population with an oxygen-regulated proliferation rate. Our formulation is based on an age-dependent stochastic process.

ABC of oxygen: Hyperbaric oxygen therapy
Over the past 40 years hyperbaric oxygen therapy has been recommended and used in a wide variety of medical conditions, often without adequate scientific validation of efficacy or safety. Consequently a high degree of medical scepticism has developed regarding its use.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy in osteomyelitis [PDF]
Chronic refixtory osteomyehas is caused frequently by pyogenic bacteria either by direct inoculation or via the blood stream. These micro-orgamsms can survive in certain pauents for several yean, encapsulated in bone-sequesters, abscesses and hypovascbed scars [ 11. It has been suggested by several authors that the oxygen content of the assue is cruaal

The method of inhalation therapy with micro-doses of mixtures noble gases with oxygen [PDF]
In this research, we presented the method of inhalation therapy with noble gas micro-doses and results of clinical studies in hospital of Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). We have designed a device that allows dosed injection of noble gas with a volume of about 2-4 ml with peroxide vapors into the nasal cavity.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy: Useless or useful? A battle.
The use of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBO) in the treatment of certain types of diabetic foot ulcers (DFU) has been the topic of much debate and disagreement over the last several decades.
