On a boundary value problem for a parabolic-hyperbolic equation of the fourth order
In this paper a boundary value problem for a fourth-order equation of parabolic-hyperbolic type within a pentagonal domain was investigated. In the equation under consideration, one characteristic aligns with the Ox axis while the other aligns with the ...

Global existence for a class of quasilinear hyperbolic-parabolic equations
The author proves that, given \(u_0\) and \(u_1\), there is an \(\varepsilon_0> 0\) such that for any \(\varepsilon\leq \varepsilon_0\), the initial value problem \[ \varepsilon u_{tt}+ u_t- u_{xx}- (f(u_x))_x= 0,\;u(x, 0)= u_0(x),\;u_t(x, 0)= u_1(x), \] where \(f\) is a smooth increasing function on \(\mathbb{R}\), has a unique classical solution ...

Acylindrical visual splittings and the Tits alternative for Artin groups
Abstract We give a necessary and sufficient condition on a visual splitting of an Artin group satisfying the conclusions of two well‐known conjectures to be acylindrical, and demonstrate how this can be used to provide a large class of novel examples of Artin groups that satisfy the Tits alternative.

Boundary Value Problems with Integral Gluing Conditions for Fractional-Order Mixed-Type Equation
Analogs of the Tricomi and the Gellerstedt problems with integral gluing conditions for mixed parabolic-hyperbolic equation with parameter have been considered.

Modular analogs of character formulas and minimal lifts of modular forms
Abstract If f$f$ is a mod‐3 eigenform of weight 2 and level Γ0(ℓ2)$\Gamma _0(\ell ^2)$ for a prime ℓ$\ell$ such that ℓ≡−1(mod3)$\ell \equiv -1 \pmod {3}$, and ℓ$\ell$ is a vexing prime for f$f$, we show that there is no obstruction to finding a minimal lift of f$f$, but that there is an obstruction to finding a nonminimal lift.

Free semigroups of large critical exponent
Abstract For a convergence group equipped with an expanding coarse‐cocycle, we construct finitely generated free subsemigroups, which we call Bishop−−Jonessemigroups$\textit{Bishop--Jones semigroups}$, of critical exponent arbitrarily close to but strictly less than the critical exponent of the ambient group.

Bitsadze-Samarskii Type Problem for the Diffusion Equation and Degenerate Hyperbolic Equation
A boundary value problem of the Bitsadze-Samarskii type is studied in the article for a fractionalorder diffusion equation and a degenerate hyperbolic equation with singular coefficients at lower terms in an unbounded domain.

Obstacle problems for a coupling of quasilinear hyperbolic-parabolic equations
Summary: We establish the existence and uniqueness of the solution to some inner obstacle problems for a coupling of a multidimensional quasilinear first-order hyperbolic equation set in a region \(\Omega_h\) with a quasilinear parabolic one set in the complement \(\Omega_p= \Omega\setminus\Omega_h\).

Abstract We give a formula with explicit constants relating the subsurface projection dY(ν−,ν+)$d_Y(\nu ^-,\nu ^+)$ of the end invariants ν−,ν+$\nu ^-,\nu ^+$ of a hyperbolic 3‐manifold Q$Q$ diffeomorphic to S×R$S\times \mathbb {R}$ and the length of the geodesic representative in Q$Q$ of the multicurve ∂Y$\partial Y$.
