In this chapter, we construct some examples of hyperbolic 3-manifolds. We begin with a geometric method for constructing spherical, Euclidean, and hyperbolic 3-manifolds in Sections 10.1 and 10.2. Examples of complete hyperbolic 3-manifolds of finite volume are constructed in Section 10.3.

Systoles of hyperbolic 3-manifolds
Mathematical Proceedings of the Cambridge Philosophical Society, 2000Let M be a complete hyperbolic n-manifold of finite volume. By a systole of M we mean a shortest closed geodesic in M. By the systole length of M we mean the length of a systole. We denote this by sl (M). In the case when M is closed, the systole length is simply twice the injectivity radius of M.

Hyperbolic 3-Manifolds With Nonintersecting Closed Geodesics
Geometriae Dedicata, 2003A complete (orientable) Riemannian manifold is said to have the spd-property if all its closed geodesics are simple and pairwise disjoint. In the paper under review, the spd-property is investigated for Riemannian \(3\)-manifolds which admit a geometrically finite hyperbolic structure.
