Geometry and topology of complex hyperbolic and CR-manifolds

open access: yes, 1997
We study geometry, topology and deformation spaces of noncompact complex hyperbolic manifolds (geometrically finite, with variable negative curvature), whose properties make them surprisingly different from real hyperbolic manifolds with constant ...

Lacunary hyperbolic groups [PDF]

open access: yesGeometry & Topology, 2009
We call a finitely generated group lacunary hyperbolic if one of its asymptotic cones is an ℝ–tree. We characterize lacunary hyperbolic groups as direct limits of Gromov hyperbolic groups satisfying certain restrictions on the hyperbolicity constants and injectivity radii.

RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Hyperfiniteness of boundary actions of acylindrically hyperbolic groups

open access: yesForum of Mathematics, Sigma
We prove that, for any countable acylindrically hyperbolic group G, there exists a generating set S of G such that the corresponding Cayley graph $\Gamma (G,S)$ is hyperbolic, $|\partial \Gamma (G,S)|>2$ , the natural action of G on ...

Open and Dense Topological Transitivity of Extensions by Non-Compact Fiber of Hyperbolic Systems: A Review

open access: yesAxioms, 2015
Currently, there is great renewed interest in proving the topological transitivity of various classes of continuous dynamical systems. Even though this is one of the most basic dynamical properties that can be investigated, the tools used by various ...

Predicting and Comparing the Subjective Health Experience of Older Cancer Survivors and Non‐Cancer Survivors: A Modeling Approach

open access: yesAging and Cancer, EarlyView.
This study underscores the significant influence of frailty and vitality on the subjective health experience of older cancer survivors with acceptance and control emerging as salient mediators. These findings affirm the conceptual and empirical robustness of the model highlighting its potential utility in shaping future interventions for older cancer ...

Homogeneous Structures and Homogeneous Geodesics of the Hyperbolic Oscillator Group

open access: yesAxioms
In this paper, we study some homogeneity properties of a semi-direct extension of the Heisenberg group, known in literature as the hyperbolic oscillator (or Boidol) group, equipped with the left-invariant metrics corresponding to the ones of the ...

Hyperbolically embedded subgroups and rotating families in groups acting on hyperbolic spaces

open access: yes, 2014
We introduce and study the notions of hyperbolically embedded and very rotating families of subgroups. The former notion can be thought of as a generalization of the peripheral structure of a relatively hyperbolic group, while the later one provides a ...

Hyperbolic graphs of surface groups [PDF]

open access: yesAlgebraic & Geometric Topology, 2011
We give a sufficient condition under which the fundamental group of a reglued graph of surfaces is hyperbolic. A reglued graph of surfaces is constructed by cutting a fixed graph of surfaces along the edge surfaces, then regluing by pseudo-Anosov homeomorphisms of the edge surfaces.

The Impact of Tilburg Frailty on Poststroke Fatigue in First‐Ever Stroke Patients: A Cross‐Sectional Study With Unified Measurement Tools and Improved Statistics

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Poststroke fatigue (PSF) and frailty share substantial overlap in their manifestations, yet previous research has yielded conflicting results due to the use of heterogeneous frailty assessment tools. Objective To evaluate the independent impact of frailty on PSF using a unified measurement system (Tilburg Frailty Indicator, TFI ...
