Influence of the concrete strength and the type of supports on the stress-strain state of a hyperbolic paraboloid shell footbridge structure

open access: yesStructural Mechanics of Engineering Constructions and Buildings, 2021
Relevance. This work is the first in a series of publications on the selection of a suitable analytical surface for implementation as a self-supporting structure for a thin shell footbridge.

A new smooth failure criterion for concrete inspired by Lubliner's condition

open access: yesStructural Concrete, EarlyView.
Abstract A new failure criterion with 10 parameters is proposed, based on Lubliner's idea of joining two Drucker–Prager cones. The novelty lies in the way of introducing deviatoric shape variation: through two Podgórski's functions. This feature allows for improving plane stress cross‐section's compatibility with experimental data.

SWASHES: a compilation of Shallow Water Analytic Solutions for Hydraulic and Environmental Studies

open access: yes, 2013
Numerous codes are being developed to solve Shallow Water equations. Because there are used in hydraulic and environmental studies, their capability to simulate properly flow dynamics is critical to guarantee infrastructure and human safety.

Investigation of the Pressure Coefficients Correlation Field for Low-Rise Building Roofs

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2022
The use of hyperbolic paraboloid roofing (HPRs) is increasingly common in contemporary architecture, especially for buildings with large spans, making use of tensile structures or light shells. These structures are very sensitive to wind loads because of

Function spaces for decoupling

open access: yesJournal of the London Mathematical Society, Volume 113, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract We introduce new function spaces LW,sq,p(Rn)$\mathcal {L}_{W,s}^{q,p}(\mathbb {R}^{n})$ that yield a natural reformulation of the ℓqLp$\ell ^{q}L^{p}$ decoupling inequalities for the sphere and the light cone. These spaces are invariant under the Euclidean half‐wave propagators, but not under all Fourier integral operators unless p=q$p=q$, in ...

Smoothing estimates for the kinetic transport equation at the critical regularity

open access: yes, 2017
We prove smoothing estimates for velocity averages of the kinetic transport equation in hyperbolic Sobolev spaces at the critical regularity, leading to a complete characterisation of the allowable regularity exponents.

Form and load transfer aspects of foundation systems: Case‐based implementation and adaptation for buildings

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, Volume 5, Issue 1, Page 176-192, March 2026.
Upon conceptualization of structural behavior, foundations in terms of their form are divided into linear (1D), planar (2D), and volumetric (3D). Regarding the load transfer mechanisms, linear foundation systems are considered vector‐acting, planar foundations are divided into section and surface‐acting, and volumetric ones are recognized as block ...

Heinz Isler: shells for two churches [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This paper describes the concept, design and realisation of two churches where Heinz Isler (1926-2009) was responsible for the structural design and in one case also for the architectural concept. One example, the Heilig Geist Kirche (Holy Spirit Church)

Fluid–structure interaction simulations of wind gusts impacting a hyperbolic paraboloid tensile structure

open access: yesThe Physics of Fluids
The paper focuses on fluid–structure interactions (FSI) between a turbulent, gusty fluid flow, and a membrane structure. Lightweight structures are particularly vulnerable to wind gusts and can be completely destroyed by them, making it essential to ...

IMAGING OF A HYPERBOLIC PARABOLOID WITH TOUCHING LINE WITH THE PARABOLAL WRAPPING CONE

open access: yesManagement of Development of Complex Systems, 2021
The paper is dedicated to architectural structures modeling by means of computer-graphics. Images on the monitor represent perspective. That’s why the images could be assessed from the most convenient points as viewer’s position is considered to be the ...
