Geodesic flow, left-handedness, and templates

open access: yes, 2014
We establish that, for every hyperbolic orbifold of type (2, q, $\infty$) and for every orbifold of type (2, 3, 4g+2), the geodesic flow on the unit tangent bundle is left-handed.

Freeform Manufacturing of Plant‐Based Structural Colors for Scalable Photonic and Mechanochromic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A green, freeform manufacturing approach that utilizes robust aqueous two‐phase systems to create intricate and scalable photonic structures and non‐planar mechanochromic hydrogel actuators from plant‐based hydroxypropyl cellulose. This approach broadens the structural possibilities of sustainable photonic devices and mechanochromic systems, offering ...

Limiting distributions of curves under geodesic flow on hyperbolic manifolds

open access: yes, 2008
We consider the evolution of a compact segment of an analytic curve on the unit tangent bundle of a finite volume hyperbolic $n$-manifold under the geodesic flow. Suppose that the curve is not contained in a stable leaf of the flow.

Ultrafast Photocatalytic Wettability Switching in Substrate‐Interface Tailored Titanium Dioxide Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Interfaces, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates ultrafast photocatalytic wettability switching in TiO2 thin films by tailoring substrate doping and interface oxides. Enhanced switching rates and hemiwicking effects are achieved through optimized material stacks and nanostructuring.

Advantages of Dual Hyperbolic Tangent Function Over Single Hyperbolic Tangent Function in Description of Hysteresis Loops

open access: yesInternational Review of Electrical Engineering (IREE), 2016
If the mathematical description of the magnetic hysteresis loop branches should be simple, easy to use and should credibly describe the waveform magnetic hysteresis loop with a minimum number of parameters, then it inevitably leads to the description of magnetic hysteresis loop branches with a hyperbolic tangent function.

Flow‐Adaptive Gas Sensing Enabled Using a Uniform Au Nanosheet Sensor Array and a Neural Network Inference

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
Integrated Au nanosheet sensor array enables simultaneous inference of gas concentration and flow rate via deep neural network analysis, without external flow control. ABSTRACT Gas sensor responses are considerably affected by gas flow rates, thereby inhibiting the accurate detection of target gas concentrations in variable‐flow applications such as ...

Verification of an analytic fit for the vortex core profile in superfluid Fermi gases

open access: yes, 2016
A characteristic property of superfluidity and -conductivity is the presence of quantized vortices in rotating systems. To study the BEC-BCS crossover the two most common methods are the Bogoliubov-De Gennes theory and the usage of an effective field ...
