Computing hyperbolic tangent and sigmoid functions using stochastic logic
2016 50th Asilomar Conference on Signals, Systems and Computers, 2016This paper addresses implementations of tangent hyperbolic and sigmoid functions using stochastic logic. Stochastic computing requires simple logic gates and is inherently fault-tolerant. Thus, these structures are well suited for nanoscale CMOS technologies.

On explicit formulas of hyperbolic tangent matrix function
Journal of Interdisciplinary MathematicsThe hyperbolic tangent matrix function is a mathematical tool with diverse applications in various fields of mathematics, applied science, and engineering. The hyperbolic tangent matrix th(M), (M ∈ Mr (C)) can be determined through different techniques. In this paper, we establish several explicit formulas for th(tM).

Chaotic Dynamics of a Jerk Function with Hyperbolic Tangent Nonlinearity
2018 Medical Technologies National Congress (TIPTEKNO), 2018This paper analyzes and reports the dynamical behavior of a jerk system used in biomedical modelling applications. This system employs a hyperbolic tangent function as a single source of nonlinearity. The system trajectories, Poincare maps and Lyapunov exponents and spectrum, as well as Bifurcation diagram are presented to verify the chaotic ...

Linear Phase Networks With Hyperbolic Tangent Function and Their Applications
IEEE Transactions on Broadcasting, 1986This paper describes several methods to realize passive and active networks. with linear phase frequency response applicable to the video signal processing circuit especially for the FM transmission system. The methods are based on employing the hyperbolic tangent function realized by using passive LC ladder networks. They are also based on a time base

A smoothed rank function algorithm based Hyperbolic Tangent function for matrix completion
2012 International Conference on Machine Learning and Cybernetics, 2012The matrix completion problem is to recover the matrix from its partially known samples. A recent convex relaxation of the rank minimization problem minimizes the nuclear norm instead of the rank of the matrix. In this paper, we use a smooth function—Hyperbolic Tangent function to approximate the rank function, and then using gradient projection method

Nonlinear Companding Transform Using Hyperbolic Tangent Function in OFDM Systems
2012 8th International Conference on Wireless Communications, Networking and Mobile Computing, 2012A new nonlinear companding transform (NCT) scheme is proposed to reduce the peak-to-average power ratio (PAPR) of transmitted signals in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems. Its companding transfer curve is based on the specified hyperbolic tangent function.
