Effect of heat release on the spatial stability of a supersonic reacting mixing layer [PDF]

open access: yes
A numerical study of the stability of compressible mixing layers in which a diffusion flame is embedded is described. The mean velocity profile has been approximated by a hyperbolic tangent profile and the limit of infinite activation energy taken, which

Gaussian Process Regression–Neural Network Hybrid with Optimized Redundant Coordinates: A New Simple Yet Potent Tool for Scientist's Machine Learning Toolbox

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
A machine learning method, opt‐GPRNN, is presented that combines the advantages of neural networks and kernel regressions. It is based on additive GPR in optimized redundant coordinates and allows building a representation of the target with a small number of terms while avoiding overfitting when the number of terms is larger than optimal.

Real‐Time and Rapid Dynamic Missile Identification Utilizing a TiOx Memristor Array

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Real‐time missile target identification is demonstrated using an artificial intelligence model based on step‐weighted long–short‐term memory networks and a TiOx memristor array. The approach classifies five projectile types with enhanced early‐stage prediction through data augmentation and custom training strategies. Achieving 94.4% accuracy, the model

Exploring the Effects of an Asymmetric Activation Function in a Chaotic Neural Network Model of Epilepsy

open access: yesIEEE Access
In this work, a chaotic neural network model for epilepsy is studied. The network is modeled as a discrete map, consisting of two layers, in which the presence of chaos denotes healthy behavior, while periodicity denotes the onset of epilepsy.

Contact Force Estimation of Continuum Robots without Embedded Sensors: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This review surveys methods for estimating contact forces in continuum robots without embedded sensors. It explains why contact force matters, classifies force patterns, and groups existing methods into three approaches based on actuation, deformation, and environment information.
