Different parts of the mussel Gigantidas haimaensis holobiont responded differently to deep‐sea sampling stress

open access: yesIntegrative Zoology, EarlyView.
Symbiotic gill and nonsymbiotic mantle of mussel Gigantidas haimaensis responded differently to deep‐sea sampling stress caused by acute environmental changes. Sharply increased transcription factors potentially play key roles in initiating the response of sampled deep‐sea macrobenthos to the sampling stress.

Toward an efficiently computable formula for the output statistics of MIMO block-fading channels [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The information that can be conveyed through a wireless channel, with multiple-antenna equipped transmitter and receiver, crucially depends on the channel behavior as well as on the input structure.

Age‐Dependent Regulation of Hippocampal Inflammation by the Mitochondrial Translocator Protein in Mice

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
The role of mitochondrial translocator protein (TSPO) in hippocampal inflammation is age‐dependent, with TSPO deletion drastically exacerbating inflammation in aged mice, while dampening it in young mice. This TSPO–aging interaction was linked to NF‐kβ and interferon regulatory transcriptional networks. TSPO deletion exacerbated age‐dependent depletion

Single‐Cell RNA‐Seq Reveals Aging‐Related Impairment of Microglial Efferocytosis Contributing to Apoptotic Cells Accumulation After Retinal Injury

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Microglia engage with apoptotic cells via cell‐surface receptors, such as proto‐oncogene tyrosine‐protein kinase MER (MerTK) and Axl; these receptors interact with the bridging molecule growth arrest‐specific 6 (Gas6) on apoptotic cells. Young microglia demonstrate efficient efferocytosis of apoptotic cells, but this process is impaired in aged ...

Distribution of ratio of two Wishart matrices and evaluation of cumulative probability by holonomic gradient method [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis 165 (2018) 270-278, 2016
We study the distribution of the ratio of two central Wishart matrices with different covariance matrices. We first derive the density function of a particular matrix form of the ratio and show that its cumulative distribution function can be expressed in terms of the hypergeometric function 2F1 of a matrix argument.

A Comprehensive Multiomics Signature of Doxorubicin‐Induced Cellular Senescence in the Postmenopausal Human Ovary

open access: yesAging Cell, EarlyView.
Explants of human postmenopausal ovarian cortex and medulla were treated with doxorubicin for 24 h followed by culture for up to 10 days in doxorubicin‐free medium. Single nuclei sequencing and proteomics revealed an unbiased signature of ovarian senescence driven by epithelial cells in the cortex and stromal cells in the cortex and medulla ...

Saccharomyces cerevisiae Mub1, a substrate adaptor of E3 ubiquitin ligase Ubr2, modulates sensitivity to cell wall stressors through multiple transcription factors

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
We show that Mub1 links cell wall robustness with the ubiquitin‐proteasome system. As an adaptor protein of the E3 ubiquitin ligase Ubr2, it facilitates the ubiquitination of various transcription factors, including Mcm1 and Swi4. Yeasts evolved a complex regulatory programme to build and maintain their cell wall, the primary structure through which ...

Holonomic gradient method for the distribution function of the largest root of a Wishart matrix [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Multivariate Analysis 117 (2031) 296-312, 2012
We apply the holonomic gradient method introduced by Nakayama et al.(2011) to the evaluation of the exact distribution function of the largest root of a Wishart matrix, which involves a hypergeometric function 1F1 of a matrix argument. Numerical evaluation of the hypergeometric function has been one of the longstanding problems in multivariate ...

Neurogenomic landscape associated with status‐dependent cooperative behaviour

open access: yesMolecular Ecology, EarlyView.
Abstract The neurogenomic mechanisms mediating male–male reproductive cooperative behaviours remain unknown. We leveraged extensive transcriptomic and behavioural data on a neotropical bird species (Pipra filicauda) that performs cooperative courtship displays to understand these mechanisms.
