Global, regional and country‐specific burden of chronic kidney disease due to type 1 diabetes mellitus: A systematic analysis of the 2021 global disease burden study

open access: yesDiabetes, Obesity and Metabolism, Volume 27, Issue 6, Page 3397-3409, June 2025.
Abstract Aims Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects individual welfare, healthcare systems and societal progress. Of the multifaceted etiological factors, type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) is a prominent contributor to CKD. Materials and Methods We analysed the global incidence, prevalence, deaths and disability‐adjusted life‐years (DALYs) with age ...

Ferric Carboxymaltose (FCM)–Associated Hypophosphatemia (HPP): A Systematic Review

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 100, Issue 5, Page 840-846, May 2025.
ABSTRACT Background Since 2015, ferric carboxymaltose (FCM), an intravenous (IV) iron formulation used for treating iron deficiency anemia (IDA), has been associated with an increasing number of reported hypophosphatemia (HPP) cases. Information on HPP clinical manifestations and incidence has not been reviewed.

Late neonatal hypocalcemic tetany as a manifestation of unrecognized maternal primary hyperparathyroidism

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Pediatrics, 2013
Maternal primary hyperparathyroidism causing hypercalcemia during pregnancy can suppress fetal and neonatal parathyroid hormone secretion. We report a newborn with transient hypoparathyroidism presented by hypocalcemic seizure and tetany on the ...

Full Duplex Wireless Communications for Cognitive Radio Networks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2011
As a key in cognitive radio networks (CRNs), dynamic spectrum access needs to be carefully designed to minimize the interference and delay to the \emph{primary} (licensed) users. One of the main challenges in dynamic spectrum access is to determine when the \emph{secondary} (unlicensed) users can use the spectrum. In particular, when the secondary user

Cytopathology of follicular and oncocytic follicular thyroid neoplasms: A Bethesda System perspective

open access: yesCancer Cytopathology, Volume 133, Issue 5, May 2025.
Abstract The third edition of The Bethesda System for Reporting Thyroid Cytopathology includes category IV, follicular neoplasm (FN), which is used to classify fine‐needle aspirates of thyroid nodules that may correspond to invasive follicular‐derived neoplasia other than papillary thyroid carcinoma.

Extreme hypercalcemia secondary to parathyroid adenoma obscured by excessive coffee consumption and premature ventricular complexes

open access: yesJournal of General and Family Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 3, Page 263-266, May 2025.
Diagnostic biases are potentially life‐threatening. We present a case of extreme hypercalcemia falsely diagnosed as premature ventricular complexes attributed to heavy coffee consumption, while symptoms and electrocardiographic findings of hypercalcemia were disregarded. Abstract Severe hypercalcemia has an arrhythmogenic effect. We present a case of a

Leptin regulates parathyroid hormone secretion through CaSR‐ERK1/2 signaling

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 39, Issue 8, 30 April 2025.
Interactions between adipose tissue, parathyroid glands, and kidneys mediated by leptin, PTH, and 1,25(OH)2D3. Leptin, predominantly secreted by adipocytes, directly stimulates PTH secretion by inhibiting the CasR/pERK1/2 signaling, lifting CasR‐mediated suppression of PTH secretion. Elevated PTH may affect leptin production.
