Undescended retropharyngeal parathyroid adenoma with adjacent thymic tissue in a 13-year-old boy with primary hyperparathyroidism. [PDF]
We describe a rare presentation of a symptomatic parathyroid adenoma located in an ectopic retropharyngeal position in a 13-year-old boy. Preoperative CT scan and MRI demonstrated the ectopic location of the parathyroid adenoma.

Abstract This paper presents the final results obtained by this laboratory during a 3½-year investigation of primary hyperparathyroidism. The project involved establishment of a routine test procedure for more reliable diagnosis of this condition; a study of the incidence of renal lithiasis in hyperparathyroidism, and, finally, the ...

Nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism is a metabolic disorder caused by an imbalance in calcium homeostasis and is typically associated with the feeding of a calcium‐deficient diet. Nutritional secondary hyperparathyroidism has been reported in domestic species, including cats and dogs, as well as captive carnivores and wildlife including lions ...

Use of Data Mining in the Establishment of Reference Intervals for Albumin‐Adjusted Calcium
ABSTRACT Background Calcium homeostasis is critical for numerous physiological functions, and while total calcium is commonly measured in clinical practice, albumin‐adjusted calcium is widely used to account for protein binding, despite concerns about its accuracy and lack of standardized reference intervals.

Abstract Aims In addition to weight loss, obesity surgery (OS) leads to metabolic improvements that seem at least partly independent of weight loss and are also mediated by various endocrine pathways and the brain. For the first time, we compared the short‐term effects of weight loss achieved by either OS or a low‐energy diet (LED) on several hormonal ...
