On the local zeta functions and the b-functions of certain hyperplane arrangements

open access: yes, 2011
Conjectures of J. Igusa for p-adic local zeta functions and of J. Denef and F. Loeser for topological local zeta functions assert that (the real part of) the poles of these local zeta functions are roots of the Bernstein-Sato polynomials (i.e.

MAXIMIN, DISCOUNTING, AND SEPARATING HYPERPLANES [PDF]

open access: yesNatural Resource Modeling, 2003
Is Hartwick’s rule a necessary condition for maximin in Solow’s [1974] model? Until recently this has been an open question; this is surprising given the prominence of the model. Cairns and Yang [2000] as well as Withagen, Asheim and Buchholz (this issue) claim that the answer is in the affirmative and claim to provide a formal proof.

GloPath: An Entity‐Centric Foundation Model for Glomerular Lesion Assessment and Clinicopathological Insights

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An entity‐centric foundation model, GloPath, is introduced for comprehensive glomerular lesion assessment from routine renal biopsy images. Trained on over one million glomeruli, the framework enables robust lesion recognition, grading, and cross modality diag nosis, while uncovering large‐scale clinicopathological associations.

A Static Security Region Analysis of New Power Systems Based on Improved Stochastic–Batch Gradient Pile Descent

open access: yesApplied Sciences
The uncertainty in the new power system has increased, leading to limitations in traditional stability analysis methods. Therefore, considering the perspective of the three-dimensional static security region (SSR), we propose a novel approach for system ...

Projective Degenerations of K3 Surfaces, Gaussian Maps, and Fano Threefolds

open access: yes, 1993
In this article we exhibit certain projective degenerations of smooth $K3$ surfaces of degree $2g-2$ in $\Bbb P^g$ (whose Picard group is generated by the hyperplane class), to a union of two rational normal scrolls, and also to a union of planes.

Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and Large Language Models for Cancer Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Cancer immunotherapy faces challenges in predicting treatment responses and understanding resistance mechanisms. Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) offer powerful solutions for cancer immunotherapy in patient stratification, biomarker discovery, treatment strategy optimization, and foundation model development.

Time as an operator/observable in nonrelativistic quantum mechanics

open access: yes, 2003
The nonrelativistic Schroedinger equation for motion of a structureless particle in four-dimensional space-time entails a well-known expression for the conserved four-vector field of local probability density and current that are associated with a ...

Design of Single‐Atom Nanozymes for Precision Treatment of Erectile Dysfunction with Integrated Single‐Cell RNA Sequencing and Machine Learning

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
It is innovatively utilized single‐cell RNA sequencing to explore the underlying causes of diabetes mellitus‐induced erectile dysfunction, followed by machine learning‐driven design of a single‐atom nanozyme (Fe‐DMOF) for precision treatment of erectile dysfunction.

A Lower Bound on the Entropy Rate for a Large Class of Stationary Processes and its Relation to the Hyperplane Conjecture

open access: yes, 2017
We present a new lower bound on the differential entropy rate of stationary processes whose sequences of probability density functions fulfill certain regularity conditions.
