Some hypersonic intake studies [PDF]
A 'two dimensional' air intake comprisipg a wedge followed by an isentropic compression has been tested in the Cranfield Gun Tunnel at Mach 8,2. These tests were performed to investigate qualitatively the intake flow starting process. The effects of cowl

A Scramjet Compression System for Hypersonic Air Transportation Vehicle Combined Cycle Engines
This paper proposes a compression system for a scramjet, to be used as part of a combined cycle engine on a hypersonic transport vehicle that can achieve sustained flight at 8 Mach 8.

A nanostructured, naturally flame‐retardant, and non‐toxic inorganic composite is introduced, which is laterally associated with silica nanoparticles to induce the restacking of the LDH lamella structure, thereby serving as an efficient thermal insulator.

Designing Flight Experiments for Hypersonic Flow Physics
A major problem of concen for the success of physical-modelling resides in the availability of experimental data for model validation, particularly in the hot hypersonic regime.

This study presents an alternative method to manufacture polymer‐bonded explosives by partially curing an HTPB‐based molding powder prior to compaction. The study shows that the length of partial cure time before compaction directly influenced the geometric fidelity, homogeneity, compressive strength, density, and internal microstructure.

Aerothermodynamics issues of the DLR hypersonic flight experiment SHEFEX-I
Here is presented an overview of the hypersonic experiment on sharp edge concepts, SHEFEX-I. The project, being performed under responsibility of the German Aerospace Center (DLR), is aimed to investigate the behavior and the possibilities of an improved

Collaborating in future states—Contextual instability, paradigmatic remaking, and public policy
Abstract Collaboration is ubiquitous in public policy life, with its presence and profile determined by prevailing governance conditions. Commitments to globalisation and marketisation in the latter part of the 20th century marked the onset of an era defined by collaboration, between and across tiers and spheres of government, with non‐state actors ...

Hypersonic aerodynamics on thin bodies with interaction and upstream influence
In the fundamental configuration studied here, a steady hypersonic free stream flows over a thin sharp aligned airfoil or flat plate with a leading-edge shock wave, and the flow field in the shock layer (containing a viscous and an inviscid layer) is ...

Experimental Investigation on the Influence of Yaw Angle on the Inlet Performance at Mach 7
This paper presents the results of an extensive measurement campaign that was conducted with an two-dimensional hypersonic inlet in the Hypersonic Windtunnel H2K at the German Aerospace Center in Cologne in order to study the effects of angle of yaw on ...
